I Used to Like Alec Baldwin. Not Anymore.

Alec Baldwin said he would leave the US if Bush got elected. PLEASE. I can not believe the audacity of this idiot. Poor little spoiled Alec if his goofy canidate doesn’t get in, he is going to leave the US.

Well Alec if Bush does get elected don’t let the Bald Eagle bite you on your Baldwin butt on your way out of this country. What was the point of this goofball making this statement in the firstplace? Does he really think that making this statement is going to make some people change their vote because of where he is going to place his residency. Come on get over your self Alec. Tell you what you can leave right now as far as I am concerned and I use to like you but not anymore. The only reason I am going to see “Pearl Harbor” is because it was filmed in Corpus Christi.

I mean I don’t vote for Clinton did I leave or threaten to leave this country? NO! And I had to put up with him and his cronies for 8 years.

What? Alec will leave if Bush wins? Fuck, if Alec goes, I go to.
Who’s with us?!

I’m with Alec and pepperlandgirl. Alec happens to be one of the more active board members of the activist group I work for, so maybe he will take all of us to Sweden or something.

I can’t blame him though. Not so much Bush’s fault…it’s his Supreme Court picks. I don’t want to live in a country dominated by constructionist jurisprudence.

MR

I was pretty apathetic about the election up till this point, but now voting serves a purpose. Maybe if we can get rid of Alec , the rest of those freaky Baldwins will follow.

I’ve got to agree with Wildest Bill–what–it’s news if ALEC BALDWIN is going to leave the country if Bush wins? Who the heck cares if some third rate actor who could be replaced by any of hundreds of more talented or better-looking actors leaves the country? Heck, ALec, leave now–it’s not as if you inpacted more than a few flunkies, celebrity hounds, or other actors anyway.

Sigh. Nice to know that people are being rational and calm about this election.

Wasn’t Alec the one who talked about stoning Henry Hyde?

Sigh. Welcome to America, land of the free, home of the brave, and so fragile that a single mis-step by the voters will result in the complete annihilation of our entire way of life. Gah.

What a boob. I guess Alec is assuming another country would even want his sorry ass.

To quote the radio show I listen to in the mornings: “GOOD! Maybe he’ll take his sorry brothers with him!”

Falcon,

“steping back reading your post again” Do I understand you right? Are you agreeing with me? Wow.

And I agee with the radio show jock too. His brothers are looking a bit chunky for the TV screen.

WooHoo. Yah. We will all survive, somehow.

Later Alex. I’m not worried one way or another.

Phil Collins threatened to leave the UK if Labour won the last election.

I’m still waiting for him to f— off.

oy vay… I expect better from dopers.

He was not, in any way, thinking that anyone would change their vote or even care one way or another about where HE would be. Please. He was just expressing his strong dislike of Bush. Which he and every American has every right to do and is doing every day. It’s simply that most Americans aren’t famous, so their opinions are not reported by the media.

Chill.

Stoidela- and I was reacting to my disgust at his level of hyperbole. As I’ve stated before (most recently in a Pit thread), I’m very disgusted by demagouges and those who state that their opponents are an absolute evil. I consider such statements as poisoning the political atmosphere. Therefore, I’m disgusted by Baldwin stating that a Bush administration would be so horrible that he would feel a need to leave the country. Make no mistake- I’d feel the same disgust if Schwarzenagger said the same about a Gore win, and I feel the same disgust for Zenster and his posts about the evil of Bush.

So if Baldwin leaves, good riddance.

I know…hell must be freezing over, right?

Seems like Alec has ‘Democrat speak’ down pat. I agree with John Corrado that such a statements don’t help a thing in the political arena, but what did he really say ? All the news clips I’ve seen state that he and probably Kim would leave the country if they didn’t like the election outcome. Well shoot, those two probably leave the country a couple times a year anyway.
Nowhere did I see it reported that he would renounce his citizenship, or did I miss that part ?

Personally, I don’t care if all the Baldwin brothers leave the country and take their wives/girlfriends with them.

However, I do somewhat understand his reasoning. Hell, it even crossed my mind once or twice. I just don’t like the idea of living in a country under the control of George W. “I’m an ignorant moron” Bush and his equally narrow-minded cronies.

But, hey, that’s just me.

I don’t care what Alec B does.
But I must mention that I plan to move in the near future. I still plan to hang around the NYC area. Was concidering westchester (north of NYC) this way it would be an easy trip to the city. If Hitler opps Hillery gets in, I am seriously concidering moving to CT.

This Baldwin statement is really, really dumb. It implies that if Bush wins, then our precious constiutional freedoms are so in danger that the country is not fit to live in anymore. It implies that we are teetering on the brink of dictatorship, and we can only avoid this if we vote for Gore. I’m not a fan of Bush, but statements like this make me want to vote for him, just to give idiots like Baldwin and those of you who agreed with him a kick in the nuts.

What annoys me is that the Democrats are always going on about the Republicans pandering to special interests, when the Democrats have the support of the biggest special interest in the U.S. - HOLLYWOOD. Ever since the Republican Convention, when it looked like Gore might not actually win, Hollywood has been staging an extended propaganda campaign for Gore. He’s been on every talk show, getting softball questions that make him look good. Bush has been marginalized by everyone. All the Gore jokes that we used to hear regularly seem to have vanished. Hollywood holds fund raisers almost daily to help out the campaign. You can’t tune in to Rosie or Oprah without hearing some glowing soundbite about Al Gore.

These people have very special interests - they are not like the average American. They are a very small group of perhaps a couple of thousand powerful people. And yet they wield incredible power.

Why is that never talked about when discussing the influence of special interests on politics today?

I’m inclined to vote for Gore, but my mind can be changed on this point.

But not for one lousy Baldwin brother. No, to get me to vote for W, I want to be able to export two Baldwin brothers and a Sheen/Estevez to be named later.
