Pretty much every response in a thread like this is expected to be a gender expression stereotype. If the thread subject had said “name a common female stereotype that applies to you”, would you feel better about this discussion?
THANK YOU for attempting to rescue this thread.
I’ll try with this similar thought. When I saw this Samsung ad, I thought “well, that was a man’s idea”.
When I walk out of the drs office, I have to ask them which way to the exit. (Truth). Bad with directions.
Reinforcing stereotypes is “a bit of fun”?
Maybe you should tell them that in the Tell me you’re a man thread.
Disclaimer: I’m not, but this is something I actually overheard:
A: Wait, a white shark?
B: Yeah, a white shark.
A: What, like snow, or milk or paper or something?
B: Ash.
A: Ahhh.
I did.
I tried to tell everyone I was a woman but nobody listened until a man told them I was a woman.
It didn’t derail it, did it?
The difference between the two threads is that women are more harmed by gender stereotypes than men. I’m glad to see the pushback in this one.
Are we so fragile we have to be protected against people thinking we eat frosting?
That was my first time though.
And last.
Yeah. Move on to marshmallow cream.
I have read Martha Stewarts magazine.
Just curious, how do you know that?
I really want to tell you how I feel about that, but I’m a guy, so I’m just gonna ball those feelings up in a knot and push 'em down so they never see the light of day. Don’t worry about me, it’s OK, it doesn’t hurt.
I sometimes store stuff in my bra.
I keep a tissue stuffed up my sleeve when I hab a cold
I let my underthings drip dry after washing.
You’re absolutely right. The strong, silent male stereotype is quite harmful to men. My apologies. Maybe we’re further along in calling out women’s stereotypes?
And now I will talk about what everyone was wearing at the cat show.
I claim the all counter space in the bathroom for my skin and hair products.
I have nothing I want to wear but my closet is stuffed full.
I always need new shoes.
