Let me add a few that haven’t yet been mentioned.
“Felch” was the go-to term for all manner of descriptions some time ago. It was especially popular when linked with goats. Fortunately its usage slowly eroded away.
“Og” , “Og smash!” and its many derivatives were a big hit. I don’t remember the poster who first used it as a bizarre misspelling of “god” but good times were had with that one.
Pit threads would attract posters immediately chiming in with “Oooh, this is gonna be a good one,” and “Pulls up a lawn chair, pops open a beer,” for those with not a shred of substance to add but who were merely announcing their gawker status. It took some doing for the mods to stifle that practice.
Post count parties were all the rage some years back. Evidently acquiring a large number of posts in the shortest amount of time was viewed as some form of Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence. When a poster hit 100 posts, 500 posts, 1000 posts, etc. there appeared the need to start a thread gleefully announcing this and others would chime in “congratulating” said poster and at the same time using the opportunity to pad their post count. Seriously. Mods also were successful in putting the kibosh on that one.
Melingate needs to be added to the list of notable events.
Homer’s thread, I just ate three mushrooms, is the one I have bookmarked for a laugh.

Well, we’ve gone this far, I might as well mention the infamous outing of the pedophile, whose name escapes me, which is what I was thinking of when I posted on the first page.

No, this was awhile ago. TubaDiva, IIRC, outed him on another board, signing her name along with her title, implying that she was doing it on behalf of SDMB. Quite the controversy, and I think she was suspended for a bit.
As far as the tranny faker, I think that was a long time poster who “outed” himself, but there were a lot of holes in the story, and when people started poking, the whole thing fell apart.
Dopers are a sympathetic bunch, and will go out of their way to help you (witness Quasimodem) but woe to you if we find out you’re lying to us. Wasn’t there someone who had claimed she’d had a miscarriage, or lost her child, or something?
