Haven’t seen a thread on this but it’s in all the news here so I assume at this point everyone knows at least some of what’s happened. Basically, some one (or possibly 2 people) drove a truck down a crowded street in Nice, France tonight (on Bastille Day with the celebration just winding down), killing at least 80 people. There are unconfirmed rumors of gun fire and of explosives in the truck. I said ‘terror attack’ in the OP, but there aren’t many details yet, though the type of attack, and when it happened probably points that way.
I just wanted to start a thread and say to our French 'dopers that I hope you all are safe and well. France is a big place, so odds are none of them were in Nice tonight, and even if they were, hopefully they weren’t near what transpired. 
It’s a sad day, and the fact that this happened on Bastille Day just makes it hurt all the more.
