Looks like it doesn’t work with images.
Generally speaking, the easiest way to set up a table on discourse that I have found is to make the table in Excel, and then just copy and paste that into discourse. It doesn’t always work, but sometimes it just magically creates the table perfectly for you.
When it doesn’t work, I still use Excel by adding an extra column that concatenates all the cells together with pipe (|) characters in between. Each cell in that extra column then looks something like “|” & A1 & “|” & B1 & “|” & C1 & “|” & [etc…] Copying and pasting just that column works more reliably.

FloatyGimpy and I will be in town for this total eclipse. I’ll be coming from San Francisco and have been planning this trip for over a year, and I’ve been discussing a meetup in San Antonio with ThelmaLou for several months. So that’s why the date and time for this Dope Fest is set and inflexible. Apologies to those who would otherwise be interested in meeting but cannot because of the date.

Still no joy with the colors. At least not on my Android phone.
You’re not seeing the colors in @Bullitt’s posts? That’s very odd.
I’m looking at that post (#488) on my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S10 and Chrome browser) and the colors are there in all their bright blue glory.
Do you see colors in other websites?
Weird. I continued to not see them, but I remembered that I did see the colors earlier in the thread so I scrolled up to go find some of them. Once I went back far enough that discord loaded more posts, it kicked me back to the bottom and now I can see the colors.
Why can’t I post a video in my posts? I see other posts with youtube videos.
Discourse won’t let you, but it only knows if you’re posting a video if it has time to generate a preview of the post. Meaning if you paste a link to a video and then continue typing, after about 3 to 4 seconds it will have generated a preview and will know you’re trying to post one of them fancy videos.
The way we can get around this is by not pasting the link to the video into your post until you’re actually ready to submit it, and then immediately submit the post after pasting the link.
The same holds true for edits. In order to edit a post with a video, you have to cut the link into the clipboard and out of the post. Make your changes, save the edit, then go back in and edit it again. Now paste the link and immediately save the edit. This one might be harder because there’s a good chance it’ll be cached, meaning you might have less than a second between pasting the link and saving the edit. In that case, I might try pasting a different video link instead, wait a few seconds for it to generate a new preview, and then quickly switch it back to the link you want and immediately save.
Wow. What a hassle. But for some responses which really do require a video link, I’ll have to say it’s worth it.

It’s a lot less complicated than it sounds …
The easiest way is to hide the preview pane (the << at the bottom right.)

I don’t think that has any effect. My phone doesn’t do any preview unless you actually hit the little preview button in the bottom right of the screen, and yet after 3 or 4 seconds it still won’t let me post a video.
It’s actually a bug in Discourse. It used to work properly, until it didn’t.
We are not a hosting site, so we don’t allow you to embed pictures, videos, etc. in threads. You have to host the pictures, videos, etc. elsewhere and link to them.
At some point, Discourse managed to futz itself up and started treating the OneBox preview THAT DISCOURSE ITSELF MAKES as a user-posted image or video. So that’s why there’s a race. If you can post before it makes the preview, then it won’t block you. But if you are too slow, then it does block you.

We have asked the Discourse folks to fix it. So far, they haven’t.
Oh yeah right. I remember when it used to work, and then I also remember around the time it first broke. That was some time back.
If I, or anyone else, can remember when that happened, that information would be very valuable to the Discourse developers in determining what code change(s) caused the break.
I used to be a system test engineer, and that is some of the most tedious work: load SW v37.095 and test it. No bug? OK, then load SW v37.096 and test it. No bug? OK, then load…
Lather, rinse, repeat. It’s a PITA but sometimes it’s the only way. Especially for older bugs.
Of course, the developers could also scrutinize the code to find the bug, but that too can be very tedious work.
