Futzing with pic posting
Aarrrgghh! Only because I can’t leave this empty
When you link to the album, the picture displayed here is stretched laterally. But if you link to the picture, its proportions are more true. Like here —
Is something up with the board? Spoilers are acting weird. Posts in general. I don’t have a preview screen on the right anymore (in my PC.) Is it just me? I closed the tab and reopened the Dope. Should I reboot my laptop?
Test sentence for spoilers.
It looks very different when composing your post: it looks like a box around it, no spoiler tags. Spoiler tags don’t work anymore?
Let’s see if this blurs.
No!
Who’s dicking around with stuff???
Test
You tube links are posting!
@Rebo we do spoilers every day in the Wordle game thread. They worked earlier in the day for me.
I’ll test them here now —
•
… NO they’re not working!
Did this work?
ETA: It worked. But I’m using Markdown mode, not RTF mode.
How do you choose between them?
In the edit box, to the left of the B, there’s a toggle that says either A or M+. Click it to switch modes.
I think that’s because the preview pane isn’t working !
ETA: although you can switch it back on using Dr.Strangelove’s
method above ..(switch to standard markdown (M+))
All very weird..

1\. As soon as I closed one of the “big” tags, it disappeared.
2\. The /big tags didn’t disappear until I hit Send.
3\. It’s double spacing everything.
- I have to insert a backslash between the number and the period at the beginning of every line, or it indents the line instead of leaving it at the left end where I want it.
- Now it won’t let me do a line that’s not indented.
- When I tried to edit my post in Site Feedback, it
- a. wouldn’t let me and
- b. disappeared the post after I gave up on editing it.
- See what I mean about being forced into an indented numbered list? I wrote the above three lines as one single line, and then, when I assumed it would accept the a and b as beginning a new list and hit enter, it kept going with the numbered list instead.
- Samsung laptop, Windows 10 (I think), Chrome, SD dark
- And the backslashes didn’t disappear when I posted this.
Testing something.
Harrumph.
I don’t like spontaneous change. I like things to stay the same. So sue me.
That is all. Just ignore me.
Correction: It’s double spacing everything that’s not part of a numbered list (and possibly, I suppose, a bulleted list).
I’m not a fan of most editors (including Word) defaulting now to double-spacing on enter now either. However, you can avoid this by hitting ctrl-enter instead of enter (or using Markdown mode).
Sorry, that should be shift-enter, not ctrl-enter.
I’m not a fan of anything that changes what I type to what someone else thinks I should have typed.
The change is in the meaning of the enter key. Before, it meant a linefeed. Now, it means new paragraph.
Like I said, I’m not a fan either. But Word/Outlook started doing this ages ago so that you could change paragraph spacing independently of other factors (say, if you wanted 1.5 lines between paragraphs instead of 2).
