I’m currently at 2200 grains of rice, level 46. I’ve been bouncing between level 44 and 49. I got to 49 when they kept throwing 19th century costuming terms at me. Ha ha ha, they didn’t even know who they were dealing with.
I would like to inform everyone that “dolce” means “sweetly,” not “gently” as the quizmakers would like us to believe. I would also like to nominate “puissant” and “pulchritude” as the words that sound least like their meanings.
In case anyone is curious, when you donate 10,000 grains of rice, it gives you a message like Wow, you’ve donated 10000 grains of rice. Thanks-- or something like that. I should have posted it when I saw it, but it slipped my mind. I left the window open, and have been bopping back and forth, so if I make it to 20000 I’ll let you know.

I knew this was the right group for this website. I’ve also found out that it can be fun to play it in pairs or groups. You get interesting cross-talk.
I’ve missed ten words so far, but scored 620 points. I’m currently at Level 46 after getting as high as #47. For those times when the SDMB hamsters are taking forever to send you from one page to another, this is a good site to have in a secondary window!
Only level 43 (I did get up to level 50), but I donated 1900 grains of rice, so I feel pretty good about myself.
Stopped at 1000 grains, level ranged from 38 to 40.
I liked it! Some of the words I didn’t know I could guess at, though.
An educational zombie. . . a relative sent me to the link again today, and I got to 52, so I know it doesn’t do anything different at 50.
It said my highest level was 52, but I didn’t see that happen. I kept forgetting to look at the level while I was playing. Mostly I hovered between 47 and 50, with a fairly good number of, “Where have I seen that?” words.
If you listen to the pronunciation and try to identify the root of the word you can guess a few without knowing the word. It does seem a curious mix though - some were pretty easy and seem to occur frequently in books I’ve read and others were totally obscure.
3020 grains of rice, touched level 50 once but hovered around 45.
Heh. I almost don’t know any of the words. (English is a second language for me.) But I can still guess them around level 41 like this.

Average was 45, highest was 49, so it seems I’m in the Average Doper Range.
I couldn’t resist; I went back and got to 51. I don’t see me getting that lucky again (it was a really good run of words) and I’m way overdue to get some sleep, so I’m calling it a night and going to bed!
