Hmmm, that went well, didn’t it? I wonder why shijinn’s emoticons worked and mine didn’t?
i was playing with the ipad’s emoji keyboard, you?
MacBook Pro. I just used the ‘special characters’ in the drop down box, which seems to work everywhere else but here.
So, were you using Safari on your iPad?
Chrome, but this is with Safari now.
Well, now I’m officially cranky. I must try on the iPad but I can’t work out why emoticons would work with that and not the MBP.
ETA: well, blow me down. It worked this time.
Weird. Worked first time, so I decided to edit. Then it didn’t.

I am only seeing 6 of the above as anything other than boxes with hex codes in them.
Not seeing any of the above as anything other than boxes with hex codes in them.
Firefox 28.0 on Ubuntu Linux.
Emoji works strangely in vBulletin. You can post them, but editing or quoting a post with emoji tends to break them.
One last try.

Strangely enough, in your quote box I can see only 5 of them.
But all of shijinn’s emotions come through for me on Safari.
I see shijin’s little pictures just fine in their original incarnation, but not on any of the quotes. I’m on the latest version of Firefox, on OSX 10.9.
As a test, here’s a manual copy-and-paste quote of them:
What happens to those things if you try to change the text color?

same here, i’m not seeing anything in the quotes. my takeaway is that browsers don’t matter on the ipad, all of them work; while on the pc, Chrome doesn’t see anything, IE can see them but renders the pictures with a different font. can anyone on Android see anything?
i count 5 too.
.
Showoff!
They show up beautifully in the mouseover text but boxes with question marks in the thread
Posting emoji in the quick reply box in Tapatalk doesn’t work. Let’s try the full reply window.
Nope. You can see emoji with Tapatalk, but you can’t make a post with them.
Yip. This is an issue with any special characters. I remember running into this problem using non-breaking spaces. You can’t preview them or quote them.
The only way to keep them is to go back to the old copy-and-paste method.
That’s what I’m doing to show you that I can only see the following characters on my Windows XP netbook:
Now that I’ve got a Win7 computer again, are the only characters in this thread that I cannot see. (I’m not counting anything that has been converted to a question box, as I can actually see the question box.)
And apparently I can’t copy-and-paste anymore. It seems that the text box uses a different character encoding than the actual web page.
