Well, it is, sorta kinda. It a conspiracy to manifest democracy, to bring that heroic experiment a bit further. ACORN knows full well that enlarging the voter base will most likely benefit progressive causes, you betcha they know.
They do the practical scut work of progressive democracy, the stuff that works. It was a good thing when black folks got the right to vote, it was a better thing when they were registered to vote. So that politicians could look at the numbers, and best adjust their attitudes. Power to the people, to coin a phrase.
The same voter drive spirit motivates ACORN’s voter drives, they are sheer moonbat altruism and utter political realism sublimely married. And it has made for them a set of enemies anyone should be proud of.
And annoying to be around, but that was mentioned earlier.
Even back in the day, when I was footloose and fancy-free and had a thing for hippie chicks, I couldn’t hide my (realistic?) (fatalistic?) (grumpy?) side long enough to get into their pants. They were just too nice to be around, much less seduce.

Stewart joined conservatives in their criticism of the media, wondering why major media outlets failed to investigate ACORN or report on the investigative videos.
“You’re telling me that two kids from the cast of High School Musical 3 can break this story with a video camera and their grandmother’s chinchilla coat, and you’ve got nothin’?” he asked. *
I’ve been looking at the videos, and come to the realization that I don’t like any of these people. I don’t like the fat stupid woman in the first video, I don’t like the crazy skank from San Berdoo, and I especially don’t like that snotty Lee Atwater wannabe, James O’Keefe. Die, yuppie scum!
Fuck 'em all. Nobody in this nasty set of circumstances looks worthy of my pissing on them if they were ablaze. Trouble is, firing those ACORN workers doesn’t arouse much sympathy, but that little preppy scumbot is assuring himself a bright future as a pet of the rightards. So he’s likely to make out pretty well. What a piece of work he is, I can only hope that his political principles remain unchanged, I sure don’t a nasty little turd like him working for my team!

He’s getting 15 seconds of being a medium sized frog in a very shallow pond. I’m sure it’s intoxicating to him at this point (perhaps not so much after he goes to jail), but it will be short lived. As self-satisfied as the right-o-sphere has been with this stuff, I think they’ve been rather dismayed to discover the deafening roar of indifference and apathy outside their own little echo chamber. I think they had delusions that this was going to be blockbuster stuff that would (somehow) bring down the Obama presidency. It’s going to fizzle soon, especially if the unedited tapes are ever released. as it stands, there’s nowhere else to go with this story. ACORN isn’t guilty of anything, and the President (despite current righty mythology) has no ties to ACORN anyway, so it’s pretty much over except for the little shit’s arrest and trial. They’ll move onto some other bit of manufactured scandal or public performance art, and turd boy will be forgotten. My guess is that he’ll eventually try some other kind of stunt in an effort to recapture previous glory and wind up getting his ass kicked.
I’ve never watched Stewart. Why would I? But he certainly doesn’t sound like he’s kidding in those clips I linked to. And is Colbert still driving that faux conservative persona into the ground? Wow, he’s really milking that for all it’s worth, huh?

And I honestly didn’t care about that ACORN woman’s confession when I took her statement at face value and thought her husband was really dead; imagine how little I care about it now.
Stewart and Colbert both have a talent for saying the most ridiculous, sarcasm-laden things… and being taken completely seriously by the Right. They really should just hold up a “WHOOSH!” sign for you guys every time they make a joke.
Stewart has never been above taking potshots at Democrats. The thing is, right now, your side just provides the best opportunity. Unlike Republicans, we don’t walk in lockstep.
