Miscellaneous and Personal Stuff I Must Share

Let me start off by saying that Tampa Dopetoberfest 2000 was HUGE success with 50% larger turnout this year. (The three of us had a blast!)I think this officially makes us the fastest growing Doper Crowd!
Now I would like to turn the attention over to a very wonderful, selfless Poster. One whose kindness will confuse, yet inspire me for decades.

GolfWidow was unable to make the party this afternoon because of some unfortunate scheduling conflict. However she was with us in spirit and in Utility! After our meal, Michi, Sanibel and I were awarded the pleasant suprise of our bill being taken care of in advance by a Ms. GolfWidow! Such generousity to known friends would have been a shocker to me, but since I have never met this woman, my reaction was beyond even that!!
To settle the bill of three strangers is one of the most selfless, wonderful displays of benevolence I have ever seen.

I know that other Dopers will read this and be able to compliment you properly. My limited vocabulary does not do you justice!!

Please fellow Dopers, join me in praising a very fine, caring, beautiful, golden hearted member of our Straight Dope family.

Well, Bear said it best, and thank you very much again for lunch. Perhaps next time we’ll all be able to eat together… of course, by then, the Bay Area Dopers will be renting out Moscone Center… :wink:

Hey guys, aren’t you going to tell Paula how you each ordered extra entrees, guzzled the alcohol like there was no tomrrow, and told all the waitresses to take the credit card number to the mall so they could buy themselves something cute? :wink:

I forgot to mention how we put that sign on I-275 advertising free alcohol… didn’t take long to fill up the place, let me tell you.

GolfWidow, I, too, would like to add my praise for your generousity.

Also, I should warn you–don’t ever do such a thing at any get together that I attend at the Olive Garden…I swear that I must just about double my 135 pound body in breadsticks, salad, soup, appetizers (double calamari order, single toasted ravioli order), entree and dessert (apple carmelina). Just be glad that I stick to raspberry lemonade and not the alcoholic stuff. You’d better have a gold card if you pick up DRY’s Olive Garden tab…

Seriously, kudos to you! How come no LA dopers cancelled last Saturday?
