Thank You.

I’ve seen the movies, I’ve seen the TV specials, I’ve read the articles on veteran’s day, but until today I didn’t realise the debt that I owe to people that have gone to war for The United States.
I spoke to a man who was part of the D-Day invasion of Normandy, and I’ve heard accounts before, but to hear him describe the horrors of war from a first hand knowlege just simply floored me. It made me so greatfull of this man-- this great, yet ordinary man–that I was in tears.
I know there is no posible way I can repay these people for risking everything they knew–for me. They deserve so much more than the one day a year set aside to honor them.

If you have ever gone to an armed conflict for to fight for us back here on the home front, if you have lost a loved one to such a combat, I express my greatest and absolute gratitude to you. Thank You.

Amen.

Hey eggo, please drop by this thread to know how your fellow dopers feel about this.

That you are able to understand this in the middle of your own travails speaks volumes about your character.

[sub] (That you were able to laugh at my own wisecracks pretty much proves the same.)[/sub]

PS: Gotta hijack the thread and ask how you are doing. Please update all of us dopers on your well being. I’m sure that if I have spoken out of turn for the veteran dopres or the rest of us I’ll get clobbered. I’m just confident that there are a lot of people out there (me included) that want to be sure that you are doing well.

Also this thread comes to mind.

And amen, eggo. A big “Thank You!” to all of those, from any country, who ever fought for their or another country’s freedom.

Amen, again. And let’s not forget our troops that are currently overseas or on the seas. They might not be in combat, but they miss their families and their families miss them.

Zenster, you must have missed my last few updates, my travels are over. the full story

Travails, eggo. Difficulties. Though I can see how you misread Zensters post.

<doh!> I thought he had misspelled it. After looking over the thread in my sig (there are references in it to the thread I posted above), I realized that Zen had actually commented about my travels being over.</doh!>
BTW Zen, I’m doing great, got my new legs and running with the best of them (well, not the best of them, but I was never that fast). I’m actually thinking of going back on the road, but if skateboarders steal my leg (rather than just my backpack) I’m going to be pissed.
As to my intermittent posting of late, I’ve been having computer troubles.

So glad to hear that the sun’s peeking through for you eggo.

All The Best,

Chris
