No personal attacks? How about the first goddamn words out of your mouth?
I infer from your words, that you consider me to be (not that I really give a damn what your opinion may be) classless and smug. Sounds awful personal to me.

FWIW, Beer’s example sure didn’t appear to me to be a slam against FFF, just an example of what kind of annoyances can be caused when people are allowed to edit their own posts. It didn’t have to be Fathom, it could have been any other message board. Or at least any other board with drunken children like Concrete posting on them.
::shrug::
Guess some people just want to get pissed off.
So? Where’s my fucking apology? I ain’t gonna wait forever. I got better things to do.
No, people that contribute here can express their opinions on whatever they want. The administration would, however, like to enforce a policy of excluding people who primarily post here to complain about them. They work long and hard making this site a place we all enjoy, and have no need to be subjected to the whining of people that have no other purpose in being here.
UncleBeer, you haven’t, in fact, explained your motivation in linking to the thread that you did, unless you think that your “no dinner for you” comment was supposed to do that. As pointed by others, concrete is not a good example of anything. Editing works at Fathom. It probably would not work here, for reasons discussed here and in other threads. If it was just an unthinking thing on your part, then I apologize and take back anything that I posted that suggested you did it as a slam at Fathom. (I also apologize for the “Your Smugness” comment. Your post sounded VERY smug to me, and that’s the way I should have written it rather than the other way.)
Goldie
24KG still doesn’t like the way the SDMB is run! What a shocking development!
Things are still the same. Yue Han was exactly right, and Wally summed it up best with this:
And how does the original post I made on this thread criticize the way this board is run?
Goldie
OK, Goldie–I’ll rephrase just so you’re happy with my semantics:
"24KG still doesn’t like the way the SDMB is run! , or she has problems with the way the moderators/administrators act or post when they are discussing how the board is run. – What a shocking development!”
Is that better, sweetcheeks?
Oh riiiight. I hadn’t thought of that.
We have a massive population of sharp independent thinkers on this board. People who question just about every Authority and every Dogma that there is. Many posters here are rebels in every sense of the word. We have people who routinely question God. And you think they would be so averse to question a moderator on a message board that they would suck up mindlessly?
[Ms. Krabappel]
HA!
[/Ms. Krabappel]
What is even more amusing is that you think that you are the only one who is strong enough to see our foibles. Puh-LEEZE.
No, Mr. Hatter, it really makes more logical sense to say that you and 24Karat have very specific grudges. I know for a fact you both do. So that might bias your opinions in an anti-mod direction somewhat, wouldn’t it?
Sucking UP?
Unclebeer, me thinks you have some 'splainin to do.
Are you STILL here Goldie?
Madhatter…
You’ve got it backwards, sir. We don’t respect them because they’re Mods, they’re Mods because we respect them.
Along those same lines, we don’t say you’re an idiot because we dislike you, we dislike you because you’re an idiot.
It’s that whole “Cause-Effect” thing that Newton described, you see.
Sucking up to the mods?
Hey Goldie, be sure and check out Monfort’s “Cigarette Assholes” thread, to see how everybody was grovelling and sucking up to Alphagene.
Whatever…
Damn, I meant “MonTfort.”
Sure wish I coulda edited that…
is where I draw the line.
Y’know, aha, I’m still waiting for you to ask me to welcome you to the board. I’m feeling kinda ignored, actually.
WOO-FUCKIN’-HOO!

Which is how things run elsewhere, I know personally.
The mods and admins work together to ensure that the most unpopular decisions are made as a group. Yes, some self discretion is involved like, whether or not to close a thread, move a thread and other issues are discussed in a little place called a forum that you people don’t see. (at least I believe it is)
If the mods and admins put up to vote every single decision that they make regarding the boards we all would be wallowing in threads filled with bullshit.
If you don’t like what a mod/admin posts, before jumping on their asses use your noggin before posting a bitch about it. If it truly pisses you off then email them first rather than set yourself up for a public flogging as you know people will stick for them, mostly based on their own thoughts. Most people here are intelligent enough to make up their minds about an issue at hand.
Yes, many of us will stick up for the mods and admins based on our experiences here and elsewhere. I have said this before and I will say it again, “I may not agree with a mod or admin’s decision but I have to deal with it.” If people are so against the mods/admins and hate the way things go then I, as a member of the SD, ask you to leave peacefully.
Look, they aren’t Nazi assholes, they are normal, unpaid people helping to keep this place a fun and great place for us to frequent.
So there!
< not checked for typos and spelling! >
So, Lynn…
What was the percentage of “roiling the waters” posts vs. “not roiling the waters” posts?
p.s. I understand if you don’t want to answer that!
Another mod did the actual work, since I’m having REAL connectivity problems (squirrels in the phone lines).
Okay, since Lynn suggested it (though not specifically to me), here’s the breakdown on 24KaratGold’s posts.
Total posts: 72
Posts touting/advertising/talking about old posters who are now at Fathom- 5
Complaints about moderators- 6Defending the moderators/admins- 1
http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=43576Posts in the “Thanks A Lot UncleBeer”, complaining that UncleBeer is trying to make Fathom look bad- 7
Posts in “Ed Zotti” defending Kelli- 3
Posts involving or talking about Melin- 14 (!)
The mod in question knows who he is, and can take credit or blame as he wants. However, I took a look at samples, and it seems that he’s accurately summed things up. Most of the other posts were in MPSIMS. Fluff posts don’t count with me. I think it’s pretty obvious that Goldie’s main purpose on this message board is to be a thorn in the side of the administration, which is why I banned her.

In a really smiteful mood tonight
I don’t care one way or the other if Goldie is banned, but since I am the one that used the roiling the water phrase, I am going to comment.
Your stats say Goldie had 72 posts, and accounted for 36 of them. So half her total post count was not inflammatory. Oops, one of her posts defended mods/admins. So less than half her posts were inflammatory. I am not sure how touting Fathom is inflammatory or bad for mods. Now only 30 of her posts are bad. But 7 of those came in this last thread where she was responding directly to others. I would have to read the 14 posts talking about Melin, and frankly I am too lazy to do that. It’s your decision and I don’t want to argue with it, but I think maybe I was wrong when I said she was only happy when she was roiling the waters. I do wonder how some others would stand up to this kind of scrutiny, especially since Fluff posts in MPSIMS don’t count.
