Thanks for the memories, a nostalgic MMP

Mawnin all and Happy Twosday

I am off to the Grande Casa de Rock, we are removing the old loud makers and getting new ones. IOW I get a new PA today.

Do ya’ll remember the Jim the Destroyer incident? Hope that guy doesn’t show up today.

Need more coffee.

Cheers

Jim

Now why didn’t I think of that, geez :smack:

JSC is about halfway between me and the SHARK collection point. I have Gaffers tape.

Swampy with a little more practice, you are in trouble

Jim

They made a movie about that.

Jim, you’re losing your window on my gall bladder. I’m back in the orifice after a pre-op MRI.

Stick to the sharks, Bud.

What the hell does a gall bladder do, and how does one cope without one?

The liver makes bile, which helps digest fats. The bile (gall) goes through a tube to the gall bladder, which holds it and waits. When little sensors in your duodenum (bottom of your stomach) detect fats, the gall bladder squeezes and squirts a dose of bile into the mix.

Without one, the liver just drips bile directly into the duodenum, which may require dietary adjustments or may not. I’ve heard speculation that one’s bile duct can expand to act as a rudimentary gall bladder, but that may be an urban legend.

BTW, there have been a lot of recent threads about having gall bladders removed. Check a few out.

Good afternoon, mumpers! We have no snowy stuff over here but it is very wild and windy outside. Not looking forward to my trek to the bus stop in half an hour as it’s bound to start heaving down the second I set foot outside.

I’m on day 2 of my new job in the new office, everyone’s very nice and it’s a pleasant environment so that’s a bonus. My line manager has been over for part of the day but has kept out of the way and is happy to let me get on with what’s on the desk.

I should have access to lots of exciting stuff by the end of the week. Power, I tell you, power!

In other news, I bought concert tickets at the weekend and now have smiley faces on the calendar that tell me I am off to see Turisas and Steel Panther. Plus a couple of my favourite (but rarely seen) bands - VNV Nation and Front 242 - are playing at a festival not too far away from home this summer so that might be worth a visit.

My toes are cold. I’m going to put my socks and trainers on now…

Thanks, Yllaria.

It is only 25 Amurrkin out as I post. This needs to stop soonest. I want my Summer back! I’m a Summer baby. Give me my heat and humidity! Finished up some leftover collard greens and mac 'n cheese for N.O.L. Southern type comfort food on a cold day. GOOOOOOD!

Yeller you should start an “Ask The Person Who Knows All About The Gall Bladder” thread.

It’s a heat wave here in northern Illinois. The wind chill advisory warning has been lifted. And it’s going to get above 0, yes ZERO, today. The forecast is for above freezing temps by the weekend. Of course that will bring the dreaded f. rain with it and turn the world into a gigantic skating rink.

Peedin, my condolences on your losses.

Bobbio, great OP! I remember Cottonfield County and Fred and Sarah, and wasn’t there a shed burning sommers in there?

Now, let me preface this by saying I know alla y’all up nawth are stuck in the really, REALLY feckin’ cold. And I do acknowledge that what’s happening here is pitiful in comparison. But, og dammit! 38 degrees Murkin in Florida has got to be some kind of mortal sin, or summat. It’s so cold my gadget “Cannot connect to service.”

New VEEP/dept head started yesterday. Was introduced to him and haven’t seen him since. I’m sure that is temporary.

mom, Foo Foo Dog upchucked three times on Sunday night and I just had the carpet steam-cleaned. :frowning: Ah, well, better than diarrhea)

That’s about it from Mickeyville.

804 request time-out x4
is it my computer or this site because this is the only place i am getting it

Happy Toosday.

It’s a sunny, windy 12 degrees, up from 3 degrees this morning. A high of 14 is projected.
You’d think the armpit would be warmer.

Today is pizza day. laundry day, and I am so grateful I don’t have to set foot outside day.
TaxAct finally released the federal forms so I can check my taxes again, print them out and get a copy to the mortgage company. I’m not mailing them to the IRS until the end of the month since I have to pay. This way I will have the money without dipping into the house fund. The state forms won’t be available until Friday so I can’t finish my state taxes until then.

You’d think I’d be more excited to get moving but I feel blah. I have other things to do that I don’t want to do and I’m wishing they’d go away on their own so I don’t have to deal with them.

{{{WetOne}}}

I left work a couple of hours early to come home and do a panic tidying. **FCD **and his folks are on the way - they should be here within an hour anna half. I stopped on the way home and picked up a hunk o’chuck so’s we can have pot roast for supper. The meat is simmering and in a couple of hours, I’ll add the veggies. Good hearty meal on a cold day. I also got some crescent rolls, just because.

I’ve spot-cleaned the puke stains as well as this morning’s pee stain. It was NINE FREEKIN’ DEGREES in the back yard when I let Higgs out this morning. It’s all the way up to 18°F right now with not too terribly much wind. I have no idea what happened at Duke, but I know I’ll get the whole story this evening. I’m just glad to have my sweetie home tonight.

Busy at work, but I got to a good quitting point in time to leave. I’ll be able to finish what’s on my desk in an hour or so, then I can move on to the monster project that I’ve started and stopped a few times. That’ll fill the rest of the week at the very least. Which is good. This coming payday will be fore a measly 28 hours - how sad is that?? The joy of being a temp with no vacation pay.

And that’s all for now. Happy Tuesday, and Happy B-Day to my mommy who is 80 today!

Howdy from da cave! ‘Tis 29 freakin’ degrees Amurrkin out! Never got above freezin’ all day. DANG! Tonight’s low will be 21 and climb into the 40s tomorrow and near 70 by the weekend. Winter be weird down heah!

Soup and cornbread for dindin which we’ve already et. An early dindin and OYKW had to go to deal with paperirk. Poor thing is gettin’ ready for an audit in a couple of weeks. He will, however, be around to partake of his birthday dindin tomorrow. I told him the burgers may be oven broiled as opposed to grill especially if’n it’s windy out tomorrow. He’s good with that. He will have his desired DQ ice cream cake cause I spoil him. Anywho, MOG is comin’ to have dindin tomorrow and this Sattidy we’re all goin’ to an Eyetalian restaurant in, of all places, large and in charge Sylvester, Jawja AKA Slytown. We have not been there but MOG, JDD and JDD Partner swear it’s good. We shall see. We’re callin’ this OYKW’s birthday adventure.

So that’s the excitatement from swampland.

I’m half hoping irk calls tonight and tells me it’s not worth going in tomorrow. I looked at the numbers for tomorrow and they’re pathetic. I was there all day today doing a whole lot of nothing. The only reason I was there all 8 hours was because Detailed AGM had an interview at 2.

It’s 28 Amurrkin out with a low of 20 for the night. I said that already didn’t I? Anywho I’s chilly so Ima go lie upon the bed under a warm blankey and watch me some teevee. Good night to do just that!

Nitey Nite Y’all!

You should call and be sure they are not closed due to the intense cold.

It was eleven degrees. I’ve got to find someone who can weld brass, or braze it, whatever the hell it is called.

My sweetie is home. We all had pot roast and veggies. We’re now vegging in front of the TV. Life is good. I am happy!
