Thanksgiving Woes

I was raised by a Southern Baptist family that always used family gatherings to speculate about the End Times (which they were sure would happen any day). I stopped going to the gatherings because I got tired of hearing about doom and gloom.

Anyway, flash forward. I grew up, married and my in-laws were pretty normal. Yes, they liked talking about country life, but they were fairly rational.

Until this year.

They’ve started hoarding and would not shut up about impending doom.

Does anybody else’s family do this? If so, where do you live and what generations are professing the sky falling?

Let me get this straight. Your family talked about the End Times while you were there. Your in-laws didn’t start talking about the End Times until you showed up.

:dubious:

Well, I’ve been married ten years and it just started this year, so it’s pretty out of nowhere.

Brother-in-law’s a cop, so maybe that’s why. Theirs is more anti-Obama NRA sentiment than my family’s biblical obsessions.

Just poking fun.

I know, but I wanted to clarify all the same.

Isn’t it obvious? No way is Obama going to give up his power and authority to anyone, even Hillary. His plans to turn the US into a Muslim Socialist State are just beginning to unfold. Open your eyes, sheeple!!!

I’m there with ya

Its not going to be the United States of America

It will become the United States of Islam

“US” and “IS” have one of their two letters in common. You don’t really think that’s a coincidence do you? The proof that IS will take over is already right there for anyone to read. We’re already halfway down the tubes! Wake up sheeple!!

xkcd: Wake Up Sheeple

Over the years my in-laws have become more and more grim and pessimistic and convinced the world is going to hell in a hand-basket and even my spouse and step-child are getting in on the act. I don’t get it, their lives are reasonably good. Granted, it’s not the Clinton years anymore, but we’re all doing better than okay.

I know we older ones are facing our mortality, and that our future is no longer one of limitless opportunity, but even the kids are doing it. My friends and family are getting older and grumblier and more protective of their lawns, too, but nothing like my in-laws. I think it’s racism, too, recognition that it’s less and less a White Man’s World every year.

I’m buying everyone hand baskets for Christmas.

Anyone know what a hand basket is?

I seasoned the Thanksgiving turkey with Mrs. Daesh.

Certainly. It’s how you go to Helena, Wyoming.
