"That is all...Breckenridge?"

Okay this is off-the-wall, but it came to me last night as something that bothered me when I first saw it.

There’s a Donald Duck cartoon, a color one, where he’s listening to a radio broadcast about an escaped criminal (I think-it could’ve been an animal). The announcer breaks in every so often throughout the cartoon with updates. At the end of each, he says, “That is all…”, and then says a word that, to my ears, sounds like “Breckenridge.” What’s the word?

Yeah, the cartoon is about a vicious escaped gorilla. Youre absolutely right, it sounds exactly like “Breckenridge”. Havent a clue what it means…not much help, I suppose, except to tell you you heard right.

Breckenridge is a ski resort in Colorado (http://www.breckenridge.com/index.asp) … maybe it was named after something that would give a hint?

Yeah, Opal, I thought that maybe it was supposed to be some kind of call sign for the radio station, but I’m not up enough on 30’s/40’s radio to know the practices. That, I’m not completely sure that’s what he’s saying.

But thanks for telling me I’m not insane, Pimpernel. Good to know someone else heard it too.

Breckenridge is the last name of the police dispatcher in the toon.

Back in the day, police dispatchers signed off their transmissions by their last name

Wow. Welcome to the board and thank you for solving this one, Larkspur! Since this thread is almost 10 years old and the question has been answered, I’m going to close it down. Marley23.
