Which is the sexist Time Warner one?
^ this +10.
I cannot even begin to describe how much I hate this commercial. As a rule I try to fast forward through all ads, but sometimes I’m just not paying enough attention - until that ultra decibel scream hits my eardrums! I can never grab that remote and hit a button, (any button!) fast enough.
The fact that there are a few people in this thread who have actually opined that this commercial is ‘funny’, is almost enough to make me lose all hope for mankind…
You raise an interesting point, poker in the rear.
This one.
 hate hate hate
Okay, why is he going to call a plumber?
Oh, is there a spider on the phone’s screen?
See, I thought the point was that the woman was screaming in horror at her boyfriend’s appalling breach of etiquette, putting a cell phone on the table at a restaurant, and her dad was teaching the punk some manners by destroying the offending object.
Because SOMEBODY needs their pipes cleaned, amirite?
goes for the high five and is left hanging
Given how often fathers are portrayed as incompetent, and given that I could see both my 18 year old daughter and my mother-in-law* panicking (or simply ignoring, in the case of my daughter) at the same sort of problem, I think your hackles need readjusting.
*My mother-in-law thought dishwasher soap and normal dish soap were interchangeable. Honest mistake, but when the dishwasher was suddenly bubbling furiously, she started panicking. Solution? Similar to the commercial…just stop the dishwasher, which she, my father-in-law, and my sister-in-law could not figure out. Fortunately, I got home before my kitchen was awash in dish soap.
She calls her father “Dave”? How improper! Or was she sarcastically “thanking” the boyfriend, Dave?
Either way, her behaviour is grossly incorrect. Harrumph.
Am I the only guy here that thinks the girl in the ATT commercial is hot?
Loud but hot.
Nope, you’re not.

Good, I was beginning to wonder about the calibration on my hotnessdar.
I’ve gotta agree. I find this to be a very funny commercial. The scream is very jarring but that’s part of why it is so funny for me.
I also like this one, also for the Samsung Infuse. Not as funny, but still enjoyable.
I wonder if the woman in the commerical feels the same.
$$$$$$$$
Why are you assuming that the older guy is her father? It actually looks more like a business lunch to me? The guy with the shoe would be ‘Clueless Boss’.
Look at the post I was replying to.
Because his daughter and what I guess is her roommate are too stupid to do so themselves is what I assume given the tone of the rest of the commercial.
I don’t see how showing another demographic as incompetent would make this commercial any less asshole-ish, nor how (apparently) the genetics on your wife’s side can be used to “prove” that a majority of women are completely idiotic.
Or, maybe a majority of the population of both sexes and all ages has dropped a hundred IQ points, since it seems that most of the commercials I see these days are aimed at third graders…
Dear T-Mobile:
Please make more commercials with that brunette in the pink dress. Except you should show her boobies.
Sincerely,
B. Rabbit
Precisely. It doesn’t pay to get upset when it is the woman is stereotyped as opposed to when the man is stereotyped. Both sexes are negatively stereotyped in commercials for comedic effect (which often fails) with alarming regularity.
Here ya go. I was surprised to discover (after seeing it for the nth time) that the woman is in 30 Rock - she’s one of the writers that has the Swedish accent.
