I just watched “Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore.” Good flick. It has a surprise ending. Well, it did for me, anyway…
Me (midway through the movie): “Why does that little boy have a girl’s name? Doris or Audrey… they’re both girls names. Hm. Weird.”
Closing Credits: “Audrey…Jodie Foster”
 :smack:
In all honesty, I thought she was a boy. She had a deeper voice than Tommy for god’s sake!

John Hinckley is gonna kick your ass.
That’s been a problem for Jodie Foster — her voice and Keanu Reeve’s sound alike.
It was the first I had ever seen Jodie Foster, and I also thought it was a boy until she put on a skirt.
There’s gotta be a joke here linking to her TV show from years ago, My Sister Hank , but for the life of me I can’t find it.

Jeez, you people! Ever heard of The Partridge Family? Or The Courtship of Eddie’s Father? Foster was in both of those, and I already knew that she was not just a girl, but a babe as well.

I had heard of them, but I wasn’t fool enough to watch them.

Fool? Fool?!? They had Jodie Foster!

I motion that we adults not refer to girls as babes until they’re of legal age.
No? How about just 'til they hit puberty? Any takers?
Yes, I saw Taxi Driver.
In two episodes. Not worth wading through the dreck for that.
Besides, if I didn’t watch Eddie’s father because of Miyoshi Umeki, why would seeing Foster make me want to watch?
Well, when I thought of Jodie as a “babe” before she was “legal” I was **10 years old. ** The way I see it, no harm, no foul.

I would hasten to add that she’s only 1 year, 2 weeks, and 5 days younger than me. And I watched these shows as they aired. So when she was a young babe of 6, I was a wordly stud of 7.

Pervert. You should have been lusting after girls your own age. Like Lillian Gish.

If you mean My Sister Sam , the link is “crazed male stalkers” (MSS star Rebecca Schaeffer was stalked and killed by a fan).
I had a grown up Jodie sighting recently when I went to see the French movie A Very Long Engagement (or if you’re a purist, Un long dimanche de fiançailles) . Halfway through the film Jodie appears in a supporting role, not only speaking French but speaking it with a Polish accent. Cool more-than-a-cameo.
I know! I caught that and LOVED it. I am really impressed with her body (of work) which was one of the reasons I felt like such an idiot when I not only failed to recognize her in “Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore” but mistook her for a boy on top of it. Can I add another :smack: ?
The Little Girl Who Lives Down The Lane has a truly amazing performance by the 14 year old Foster. It’s chilling.
I agree, it was truly phenomenal. I’ve been wary of anything “almond” flavored after that flick.
Don’t forget ‘Freaky Friday’! That was sweet!
Dear God, going over her IMDB listing…she appeared as a presenter at the Academy Awards in 1972 at the age of 10!
