THAT'S RACIST! (Wonder Showzen is back)

In case anyone didn’t notice, after forever of uncertain status, the show that “TV Funhouse” wanted to be, the anti-reverse-PC phonomenon that shines amidst the trendy reverse-PC dullness that passes for edgy comedy these days, the program that brought us the racist.gif that’s so popular on the internet now, has finally returned for a second season last Friday at 9:30 PM. Sorry I’m an episode late, but if you missed the first, it’s cable, so they’ll be showing it a thousand times during off hours of the night.

I’m not familiar with anything you’re talking about but the kid in the gif reminds me of a kid on American’s Funniest Home Videos about ten years back that recited the alphabet at about 131 decibels and cracks me up to this day.

Is that show supposed to be like a sort of Sesame Street parody?

I think it’s a direct Sesame Street parody (rather than just a general kids show parody).

I love Wonder Showzen!

I admit, I’m a big fan of the type of humor that is more funny/confusing if you’re on drugs. I think it’s hilarious.

It is a little “hit or miss”, though; the puppet parts are funny sometimes, the “Beat Kids” segments are usually funny, and I crack up every time they dub over the old 70s footage with depressing comments from the kids. On the other hand, they did a few Flash-style cartoons in the first season that were just lame. Those parts were probably done by different writers.

While I think the show is perfectly consistent, and that the animated parts provide some of the most memorable moments, as well as the most biting satire currently on TV. One of my favorites was the GI-Joe parody with the homeless and insane Vietnam vets. The ending with the mother smilingly telling her son to “just ignore them” was of the most painful “funny-cause-it’s-true” experiences.
