The 100th Problem (Lemonade and Beyoncé)

So, I’m thinking this is Jay-Z’s 100th problem.

Well done!

Yeah, I have been looking for a thread on this. This album sure explains her sister Solanges going OFF on Jay-Z in that elevator video.

“Many Beyoncé fans angrily posted to Roy’s social media accounts using bee and lemon emojis.”

Wow, bee AND lemon emojis? I bet THAT sent a message. I don’t know what message, but I bet it was one!

I really am too old, aren’t I?

Could someone explain this to us old fogeys? Sounds a lot like the problem Frank and Ava had. Or maybe Wolfgang and Constanze.

I will give it a shot.

  • Jay-Z and Beyonce have been married for a few years, have a kid, etc.

  • Beyonce’s “thing” is that she is universally loved. There is much respect for her talent, her songs, how she has managed her career.

  • Her sister, Solange, also an incredible performer (look her up on YouTube on the UK Music show Later with Jools Holland - wonderful!), had an episode maybe a year ago where elevator camera footage was released with Solange kicking the shit out of Jay-Z and being restrained by one of the bodyguards while Beyonce stayed to the side. MUCH speculation as to what pissed off Solange.

  • Now this album, which all about making Lemonade from Lemons - Beyonce has been betrayed and is making the best of it.

  • She references the girl with good hair and it has been decided that it is this woman Rachel Roy. So Bee = Beyonce of course and Lemons = well, in this scenario Roy is one of the lemons Bea is making lemonade from apparently.

Hope that helps.

  • WordMan, white guy in his 50’s.

And here I wondered if “Becky” was going to be Taylor Swift. Too obvious, I guess.

Interestingly, a lot of Beyoncé’s fans confused Rachel Roy (a fashion designer) with Rachel Ray (a Food Network chef), and blasted the latter’s twitter account on cheating with Jay-Z. Hilarious mistake. Rachel Ray say, “What?!?!”

Easy peasy - bitch!

Kanye’s already got dibs on that.

How does Rachel Roy come into this? From the previous part of your explanation I’d think it was Solange who was important. Roy seems to come out of thin air

Roy is who Jay-Z has been allegedly knockin’ boots with. Solange (Beyoncé’s sister) confronted Jay in the elevator video that made the rounds last year about his relationship with Roy.

I just looked her up. Poor Jay-Z, being burdened with two such hideously gorgeous women. Maybe 3 if you count Solange.

My count is 102 problems, of which maybe 2 or 3 are bitches.

I know I could probably google this, but since I’m here anyway…

Does anyone know who composed the poetry used in the HBO video? And did Beyonce read it? I was very impressed by both the writing and the delivery.

Haven’t seen the video, but there are numerous writers associated with the album:

Just reinforces the old saw

“No matter how hot a woman is, there’s a man somewhere that’s getting tired of putting up with her sh!t”

as an aside if Mr. Z doesn’t want her I’ll take her. (If I can convince my wife)

I had to look that part up. Never even heard of her before, and wondered if it was Rachel Ray, which seemed kind of odd, but not that odd for show biz.

Anyway, with this and what I’ve heard about Taylor Swift the lesson is obvious, don’t date chicks that are megastar singers or you’ll get trashed in one of their songs.

Reality show drama complete with a soundtrack.
Gotta sell music somehow.

Warsan Shire is the poet. Beyonce is the reader.

Apparently one of the Beyonce songs on the Lemonade album mentions “Becky with the good hair”, and Rachel Roy posted on the same night as the album was released, “Good hair don’t care.” Rachel Roy, who is a fashion designer, got her start by working in Jay Z and Dash’s company Bocaware, she married Dash and divorced him, and there have been many rumors that she and Jay Z were having an affair. There were even rumors that her divorce from Dash was because of that affair.

All of this is rumors, though.

Seriously! The nerve of some megastars to not tolerate a husband’s extramarital affairs!
