I’m still waiting for the vendor to get the glass in. All I can say is, I hope the wait is worth it for my recipient. Assuming all goes well it will be, quite literally, a one-of-a-kind shot glass. The rest of the package is ready to go.

Casual Animal makes my favorite cider ever, and wife and I recently spent our anniversary at The Elms. A very cool experience indeed.

So I come home yesterday to a package on my doorstep. I think, “wtf? I didn’t order anything from Amazon… AAAUUUGGGHHH!!! IT’S HERE!!!”

So in it is a 500 piece puzzle with the Chicago skyline on it that my boys are already fighting over—they both want to put it together—a Chicago snowglobe that’s not only really fucking cool but gets extra bling points because the pewter base exactly matches one I have of Seattle that I got at the Space Needle earlier this year, a Chicago cubs baseball hat, and of course the shot glass: it’s the Chicago city flag using the skyline as the two horizontal bars. So very cool!
Now, I love the shot glass. It’s absolutely awesome. But I gotta say, zoid, you fucking hit it out of the ballpark with the hat. See, I don’t like hats much because I can’t find ones that fit me well. I even started a thread about it years ago looking for recommendations because my fat head had lost enough hair I needed something to wear pretty much any time I was outside. I’ve always dismissed ball caps because I could never find one that fit comfortably—in that thread ball caps were a no-go right from the start. I’ve ended up with a couple of Akubra Australian cattleman hats and and that’s been that.
So when I saw the baseball cap in the box I thought I’d have to pass it on to one of my kids. But, because it was so cool looking I adjusted it and tried it on.
And the damn thing fit. IT ACTUALLY FIT!! And not only fit, but fit comfortably! I’m absolutely blown away! After a decade and a half of needing a decent-fitting baseball cap, and spending $150 on caps that I thought would work but didn’t, I finally have one!
zoid, my thanks is utter insufficient! The shot glass and the snowglobe are cool, the puzzle is great, but not getting my head sunburned while I mow the lawn is the best thing ever!

I’m at work so don’t have my notes in front of me, but swampspruce has noted his package is on it’s way from Canada –> England, which apparently will take several weeks.
That leaves Labtrash and yours truly. I’m confident Labtrash isn’t a flake, so we’re good there. I’ll email his recipient tonight when I get home and let them know that all is still well.
I’ve emailed my recipient to apologize for the delay. Really, I did not think it would take this long to acquire the glass I want. I’m told it may be several more weeks :mad:
I hope when my recipient receives their glass they’ll post a picture via Imgur or similar so you all can see what the fuss was all about.

I’ve already contacted my recipient, apologized profusely, and they are OK.

So I’ve been out of town for a funeral / family reunion (man, that sounds bad…) for the past two weeks. Here’s the rundown as we come around the final bend of this thing:
Labtrash is still prepping their package and will mail it shortly.
Swampspruce has mailed his package, it it still on its way to England (sent via rowboat, presumably).
I returned home to… no email or text that the shot glass I ordered especially for my recipient is in, so… fuck it. I’ll be putting my package together with a different glass in it this weekend and mailing it next week. If the specially-ordered one comes in I’ll send it along later in a separate package.
By the way, feppytweed PM’d me and told me he’s glad we had a good turnout and that he’ll participate next year. Glad to hear he’s still around.

Hey, I wanted to be eco-freindly! You try finding a fast clipper ship doing North Atlantic runs these days! I had this one boat all lined up and some 16 year old Swedish girl just had to use it for some meeting in New York so, what can you do?
- In true Canadian fashion, I do truly apologise! Had I realized just how slow Surface Parcel actually is I never would have posted it that way. Teuton, if it hasn’t shown up by Friday, PM me and I will put together another package and air mail it.
I am off for France for a week, but just confirming that nothing has arrived from Canada yet! Slow boat and all that.
