Q

Who is Sean?

To me, that’s the best part of the Opening Ceremonies and maybe of the whole darn Olympics: seeing the young kids with those huge grins. They just CAN. NOT. BELIEVE. they’re going to compete in the Olympics. Most of them, we’ll never see again, but for that one moment they’re the happiest people on the planet.

I’m wagering on Shaun White, the American snowboarder with the shock of red hair. He got a gold medal in Torino 4 years ago.

And yeah, flodnak, they’re all like kids in a candy store just looking at the crowd, the spectacle, and everything else.

Posted in another thread, but 25 countries chose an Alpine Skier as the flag bearer followed by an XC skiier at 11 and a biathelete/hockey player at 7.

I’m always impressed by the countries that send a single athlete. And that tine Andorra sent 3 where much bigger countries sent only one.

Brian

I loved that there were so many countries represented that had never fielded a winter Olympic team before, that rocks!

I also loved that it was Michelle Jeanne that opened the games! (Not that government proroguing dirtbag with the skeevy smile!)

I also very much enjoyed the poem/poet from the North West Territories, and all the First Nations stuff, very cool I thought!

There’s a thread in Cafe Society about this, so I’m going to close this one.
