The 2016 Republican candidates

Or voting. Despite mail-in voting they had exceptionally low turnout, even for a midterm.

I think Rick Perry is about as sharp as a bowling ball, but I’ve got to give him some props for his takedown of Trump. At last someone has the balls to say “Have you no sense of decency?” And bonus points for him giving proper attribution.

Perry has his good points, but no. He’s just not bright enough and reminds me more of GWB than GWB’s own brother does.

Once again, you are wrong.

  1. Colorado had the 4th highest turnout of all states in the 2014 election.

  2. Voter turnout of eligible voters in Colorado in 2010 was 51.4%. In 2014, 54.5%.

Why, I mean seriously, why do you continue to make these wild assertions about which you know nothing, and which the most cursory research proves you wrong? Really, I don’t get it. Where in the world are you getting your “information”?

That was what was reported on the news the day after the election. Maybe Colorado was accepting ballots late?

In any case, it’s good to be wrong this time. That means Republicans won with relatively high turnout.

Isn’t 54.5% rather low in absolute terms? Nearly half the voting population didn’t bother to vote. You know, you and adaher can both be right - it just depends upon your perspective.

No, I was wrong. I heard on TV that they were about 35%.

May I suggest that you find a more accurate source of news, or else double-check half-remembered factoids before you post them?

The Republicans flipped the U.S. Senate seat, and the State Senate went from 18-17 D to 18-17 R. The Democratic governor won reelection, and the State House remains in Democratic control. Call it a win if you like.

This is a rhetorical question, right?

Why ask the question when you know his answer will be not just wrong, but wildly wrong?

Entertainment.

Even after his FEC filing, still a lotta questions about Trump’s fortune: What we know - and don't know - about Donald Trump's wealth

What if The Donald ran as an independent? Probably bad news for the GOP: http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/23/politics/donald-trump-third-party/index.html

Probably? I’d leave the board for awhile. No suspense in the election if Trump is in as an independent.

One of the indictments against Perry has been dismissed.

Predictions:

  • The other one will be as well.
  • His campaign won’t take off.
  • Democrats will continue to assert that he was guilty, that the process was corrupt, etc.

Shodan

Huh. Maybe his new glasses did some good, after all.

It was the dumbest indictment ever anyway. He vetoed a bill. He has that power.

Exactly: If he didn’t have the power, then it wouldn’t have been an issue. The claim was, after all, that he was abusing his power.

If it was Gov. Perry (D), you would be insisting that it was the worst abuse of power in the history of the republic. And criminal.

Unless he was bribed to cast a veto, he can veto a bill for any reason he wishes. Congress and the President at the federal level have been using their powers to coerce since this country was founded. If the President found out that one of his agencies was full of drunks, he could certainly veto new funding for that agency.
