Only in America. Weirdness of politics. Ramaswamy alone was weird enough.
As of late this evening, Ramaswamy’s campaign has taken credit for producing the ad with Acton’s estranged mother, and announced that they plan to spend $4 million behind it.
It would have been less of an act of self sabotage to drop out of the race.
This may be the Todd Akin “Legitimate Rape” moment of 2026. In a cycle where they were already running behind by double digits, Republicans really didn’t need another national headline that paints them as explicitly pro pedophile.
OTOH, he just lost the vote of every young person who’s gone no-contact with their parents because of the shifty or illegal behavior they’ve endured from them.
(Disclosure: I was no-contact with my dad from when I was 17 until the day he died and my only regret is that I didn’t get to meet my youngest sister until last year. She’s a nice young woman.)
Yes, but condemning “no-contact” as a twisted plot by Big Therapy (and you just know *what kind of people” get into being therapists) is one of those “values” bullcrap issues that’s on the upswing in the Right lately.
New poll for the Wisconsin Governor’s race:
Crowley holds 7-point lead over Tiffany in new Wisconsin gubernatorial poll
For those who don’t remember, Crowley is the Democrat and Tiffany is the Republican.
Here’s a textbook example of a “Meddle ad”, run by a super pac on behalf of the Republican challenger of Mass Governor Maura Healey (who as things stand is heavily favored to win). It barely mentions Healy, but warns you about a third-party candidate, Andrea James, that most of you have never heard of. You watch her make her case and think “hey, I like her positions”, and presumably switch your support away from Healey. Cynical and desperate!
And both of them are Terry Pratchett characters.
