NOT SO FAST, Mahaloth!
When I first saw this thread, I followed the directions properly to find the group. Then I had to register to join, but I did not have my choices made yet.
Sunday around 3:30 pm I returned to the Oscar Predict the Winner site and entered my choices, but I assumed I was automatically in the group. I guess not!
But my choices were entered before the deadline, and now that I did “officially” join the group I am now in first place. You can’t accuse me of looking around for a group I could beat after the scores were in, as I did post in time that I was joining. I just screwed up and forgot to officially join the group when I entered my choices.
Does that still count?
Well, maybe I posted too fast, as well. Notice the rules in ArchiveGuy’s OP said you could enter by posting your picks in this thread instead of the oscars.com site.
As I count Equipoise’s choices, it looks to me as if he got 21 correct. I also got 21 correct (Mahaloth had 20 correct).
Assuming you don’t disqualify me for doing the joining the group thing afterwards, I tied with Equipoise.
I don’t completely understand the stated tie-breaker. If it is the total correct in those five categories you named, we each got one wrong. Equipoise picked the wrong Documentary feature (which I got right), but I picked the wrong Adapted Screenplay, which he correctly chose.
Or did I count his entries incorrectly?
Well, ArchiveGuy, it’s your contest, so I suppose what you say goes. I don’t even know what the “prize” is.
Well, tied at 13th, I’m solidly in the middle of the pack – I’ve been far more humiliated than that in other years.
Plus – tied with our fearless leader, ArchiveGuy – I’ll take it.
Thanks for the fun, all!
Yes, it is a tie; in fact, the second tie-breaker I had been contemplating wouldn’t have made a difference either. So, richardb and Equipoise are both winners.
What do they win? A new CD of the Oscar-winning Breakfast at Tiffany’s soundtrack (in honor of last night’s Lifetime Winner Blake Edwards, as well as Henry Mancini, who gets a postage stamp later this year).
If they want to e-mail me with their personal info, I’ll mail out the prizes.
Thanks again for playing (especially Mahaloth, who gets special props for coming as close as they come to being a repeater) and see you all next year!
