So we’re left with Utah? Searching on Google with ‘drama “set in utah”’ brings up a lot of movies and ‘sitcom “set in utah”’ only brings up 5 results, none of which are TV shows. This could be difficult.
If *Donny and Marie * doesn’t count, then how about the *Salt Lake City Winter Olympics? *
I guess South Carolina gets left out in the cold, too. Although we do have a few movies.
On the other hand, at least we don’t have The Dukes of Hazzard. All yours, Georgia.
Texas
I can’t believe no one has mentioned Walker, Texas Ranger!
Well, it certainly lasted longer than some of the shows listed above!
I thought Hill Street Blues was set in Chicago. I thought it was fairly explicitly set in Chicago.
King of the Hill
Walker, Texas Ranger
How can we be on Page 3 without previously mentioning:
New York
Law & Order
Seinfeld
Hear hear, Asylum! It’s not ugly, it’s just suffering from multiple personality disorder. Or fragmented Catholic guilt.
(For ugly, you need to watch out of towners scratching their heads at the Preakness when “O Maryland” is played and they can’t figure out why they’re hearing “O Christmas Tree” in May)
Wasn’t Salt Lake City Blue set in Utah?
Or The Mormon from U.N.C.L.E.?
Provo Benjamin?
Mork & Marie?
It’s not “O Maryland,” it’s “Maryland, My Maryland”!
(And I agree, it’s an ugly flag.)
Indeed you are right, I was typing too quickly to think. It was very funny when it was the chime for the UM chapel, because you would see confused tour groups all the time. Now it’s just the school’s alma mater playing, not nearly as fun.
I don’t think it was ever specified which state Hazzard County was in.
Coach started in Minnesota and moved to Florida.
Brady Bunch was in California.
My Three Sons started someplace adn then moved to California.
Riptide was in California.
Mayberry, North Carolina.
I think My Three Sons started in Massachusetts. I’m not sure, since I remember reading someplace that those were the b&w episodes and were shot at another studio. The show was sold (or something) and they had to start using a different studio and set, explained by having the family move to California. Those b&w episodes aren’t available for syndication IIRC, so I never saw them.
Another show for Florida:
Flipper
Pennsylvania:
-The Tony Randall Show
-Angie
-American Dreams
Dynasty is another one for *Colorado.
About half of the westerns, movies and TV, were filmed in Monument Valley in Southern Utah. I don’t know if any of them were set there. It’s bizarre when you’re there. The scenery is so familiar, you expect to see John Wayne or Gary Cooper jump out from behind a rock.
More NYC–Mad About You and Doc.
