Have all 50 states housed a sitcom?

Simple enough. Have all 50 states been home to a sitcom family? I mean a sitcom family has resided there. For instance, Hawaii wouldn’t qualify for The Brady Bunch since they WENT there, but that wasn’t the state they lived in. I suppose we can use animated series, too, so that I can get Family Guy for Rhode Island. Oh, and no one said they had to be GOOD sitcoms (I realize that’s usually a contradiction in terms).

I swear I think there was a thread just like this last year. Do a search, it might help you fill in the data.

The Andy Griffith Show was set in North Carolina.

Where were Petticoat Junction and Green Acres set?

I knew I was blanking out on Michigan – Home Improvement and Martin.

I don’t remember it ever being explicitly stated, but ISTR hearing that references to Bugtussle, TN (where the Beverly Hillbillies Clampetts hailed from) placed Pixley and Hooterville (towns referred to in both Petticoat Junction and Green Acres) in close enough proximity that they also had to be in Tennessee.

There was a show that came and went last year that took place in Kansas. Something about the Kellys.

Good call - Married to the Kellys with Breckin Meyer.

Nevada: She’s the Sheriff

Connecticut: The Dick Van Dyke Show, Soap, Bewitched (I think)
Oregon: Hello, Larry

Hawaii: The Little People - Brian Keith as a pediatrician.

Massachusetts: Boston Common and Goodnight, Beantown

And, considering that Lenny Clarke is from Boston, I’d imagine that Lenny was set there.

Northern Exposure (Alaska) well, comedy/drama at least.

Another Minnesota one: Coach

“Hello, Larry”, which lured McLean Stevenson away from MAS*H, was set in Portland, Oregon.

I think you’re off on DVD – the Petries lived on Bonny Meadow Road in New Rochelle, N.Y. Most other characters lived in the City. You’re right about Bewitched, though – in the brouhaha over TV Land wanting to put a statue of Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha Stevens in Salem, it has been repeatedly pointed out that the series was set in Connecticut.
Regarding Massachusetts as a site for comedies – don’t forget Paul Sands in Friends and Lovers from the 1970s.

District of Columbia - Murphy Brown

Plus Illinois had The Bob Newhart Show

Previous similar thread - encompassed all TV shows, not just sitcom.
