I didn’t actually read all of the thread, so if this is a repeat, gimme my requisite lashes and lemme go.
I know of a woman who, when she was in high school, actually had breast reduction surgery. She was an athlete, and her breasts were so large they prevented her from being competetive. At the time I thought it was downright scandalous that a teen-age girl would be allowed to have what I considered “cosmetic” surgery just so she could have a shot at starting on the basketball team. Fortunately, I was wise enough to keep my mouth shut. At the beginning of her senior year she showed up, trim and fit, and ready to play ball. The transformation was amazing – she no longer had to compensate for the unwanted pounds bouncing around on her chest. She was agile, quick, and still respectably endowed. That was over 10 years ago and, as far as I know, she’s had no adverse effects.
I know it sounds radical, but if the alternative is a lifetime of pain, embarrassment and rude sales clerks, it might be something to consider.
That poor girl must have been huge to have it done while still in high school. Usually they like you to wait at least a couple of years past it to be sure you’re done growing (for the moment, anyway). I was 22 when I got mine done.
I can’t offer any advice on shopping, but here’s some sympathy and good-bra-shopping vibes. (Or good plastic surgeon vibes, if you ever decide to do that!)
Breast reduction surgery is almost never cosmetic. Breast lifts, yes. Breast reduction - generally to treat complications of having big boobs, including and not limited to chronic back pain, shoulder dents, and black eyes if one attempts to jog in the wrong bra.
Yes, surgery is something to consider. A nicer, less invasive option would be if you could actually buy bras in your size without spending $150. I certainly know which option I would choose.
I’m curious if we Dopeguys had a thread where engaged in a frank and honest discussion of our penises and their relative sizes, would it attract female lurkers the way this thread attracts males? Would there be the same number of posts asking for photographs?
I like to think so.
The way bras are sized is via band and cup. You measure the band, measure the apex, subtract and that’s your bra size. So, without any faffing around with differences between euro or NA sizes:
My band (eg, under the boobs) is 32 inches around. My apex (eg, over the boob accross the nipples) is 38 or 39. So a six or seven inch difference - hence I’m an E cup.
Now, a woman with a 42 inch band is going to be much bigger than me all over. In order for her apex measurement to be 6 or 7 inches bigger, there’s going to have to be a lot more boob involved as there’s an additional 10 inches for boobage to be spread over.
So, if I hold up a 42E bra over my boob, my 32E boob does not fill the cup - not even close. But I’m still an E because my apex is still 7 inches bigger than my band.
Thanks Blue Mood. I noticed a couple of years ago that M&S were doing larger sizes but at that time they only had in a few bras with ‘proper’ cup sizes. I think I’ll check them out again and see if they have any kind of decent selection in now. Heck, I might even get nice matching knickers in my size!
Oh that reminds me. The bra has already been officially engineered. Those guys who designed the Millennium Bridge in London did one. It did everything it was supposed to: looked good, had short enough straps, gave decent support…then it hit the shops and it flopped*.
Yeah… I mean, I knew it had to do with the relationship between the two measurements, but I thought that breasts lose weight, too… so it would seem if you lost weight around the apex, your boobs would lose weight too, thus always keeping the same relationship between boob and apex. But perhaps it isn’t always a proportional weight loss… i.e you can lose weight around the apex without losing breast weight or vice-versa?
My actually boobage either stays exactly the same or gets bigger, regardless of my size. I can be a 30 band, a 32 band or a 34 band and the girls stay pretty well the same size. I guess they’re mostly breast tissue and not much fat so they don’t fluctuate with weight gain and loss much. Perhaps they’re very dense? Dunno.
Actually, I’m amazed. We’ve only had one request for a cite so far (from LOUNE), at least that I’ve noticed. I think that might be a record for a thread of this type (which we seem to have at least once a year).
I don’t think a penis thread would attract as many women but my boyfriend says it would. Not because we’re perverts or because we love to think about and stare at them, but because we’re curious.
I, for one, spent quite a large amount of time in the boy’s locker room in high school, so I don’t think I’d lurk.
Nope. I’m only 27. I’ve never had one but I’m sure it’s not too far off. My boobs are dense, have lumps, and my nipples are innies (usually) - all supposedly making me at higher risk for cancer. So, I’m pretty sure I’ll be having my first squish-fest soon enough.
It sucks even more when you’ve got big boobs and hate underwire bras. I’m a 44DD, my kingdom for nice, not-beige not-underwire bras! I’m 20, I don’t want ugly things with huge straps! I did get very lucky last year though. I demanded our vacation include one US stop so I could take advantage of Lane Bryant and Torrid. I found the most gorgeous, well fitting bra at LB, and it was in purple! Purple! And there was a sale if you bought two! Of course, after we were far away from the store I realized the second one I grabbed had an underwire. Hissssssssss. Oh well, I still adore the other one.
Keep dragging, please.
In my defense, I had an ex who was a size 0 and had 32Ds. Every once in a while, she’d complain about some back pain, but then she’d say she wanted surgery to make them bigger. “Are you fucking kidding?” I’d ask. “Why in the hell would you do that???” “Well, I think you’d like them.” My mouth hit the floor. “You’re telling me that you’d go through MORE back pain for tits?” (at this point, the other voice in my head said "awwwww…how cute!..take it and run!) So I told her that if she wanted to get them bigger for HER or for whatever reason she had, good, fine, go right ahead. Don’t you dare do it for me, though. What you’ve got is juuuuuuuust fine and I’m allllllllll good over here, buried in boobage.
Look, Alice, if you’re gonna’ quote me, at least do it accurately. I also said that I had the good sense to keep my stupid mouth shut, and that the results proved me wrong.
Need I point out that the OP already has said the nicer, less invasive option wasn’t really working out for her? I’m not advocating a mastectomy here. I’m relating what I observed of one person I know of who had the surgery, and was, last I knew, very happy with it.
One person.
One.
Gimme a break here, at least I’m not lurking, hoping somebody’ll post tittie pix.
I’ve had cysts since I was 15, so I doubt that’s the reason the girls have been getting bigger… guess I’ll mention it to the gyne anyway, next visit. They went up one cup size about two years ago, but I’d gained weight so I figured it was that. Now they’re up again (my band size is still the same) and this time I’ve lost weight!
I’d be quite interested in many aspects of, uhm… penises and their maintenance. Doesn’t mean I’d post but I’d sure lurk like crazy. Maybe I just always pick dumb bf’s, but most of them expected me to know what to do with their equipment… c’mon, it’s not like I have one at home!
They’re pretty low maintenance, all things considered. No cantilever structures required to sustain structure, and (perhaps unfortunately) they don’t tend to get significantly bigger with age or weight gain.
And hey, if the chicks get Our Bodies, Ourselves, shouldn’t guys get the equivilent? They certainly don’t come with an instruction manual, and the Christian Bible (among other documents, including the otherwise useful Kama Sutra) leaves a lot to be desired it terms of explaining its preventative maintenance and regular function. (Mind you, that’s not all it lacks…I’m still unclear on the whole giving your virgin daughters to an unruly mob, but whatever.)
I click on that link and read “benign” and “variation of normal” and think, hey! I still have a chance to grow boobies! And all I have to do is take in fat and caffeine!
Yes, yes you can! I’ve lost 30 pounds and am about 5 lbs away from my target weight. My band size has gone down (from a 36 to a 32), but my boobs have stayed the same size. I’m happy about that though, since they weren’t all that big to begin with.
Now they look proportionally bigger than they did before, because the rest of me is smaller.
