The Alina Habba Pit thread

One can also be red-faced from anger, and he certainly exhibits that emotion a lot.

I feel like I can only recall one shining moment where Trump really didn’t read as angry, and seemed to genuinely be having fun:

Hahaha she leaves damage in her wake even when she’s not trying to do anything.

This guy actually recorded a video as they perp-walked him out, it’s such fun schadenfreude.

So many leopards eating so many faces!

Yanno, I really worry about those leopards’ health, ingesting all that spoiled, even toxic meat.

They kicked me out, but I’ll absolve Trump because he is unaware of what his staffers do!
(Nice hat with your fancy suit, btw. It doesn’t look stupid at all. No really.)

I look forward to Judge Kaplan’s questioning.

Are his supporters supposed to just know that they shouldn’t post a picture with ms. Habba or do they pass out notes when you arrive or something?

It’s cute that you think the written language works among that cohort.

Quite right. I should have suggested an announcement over the loud speakers.

“ATTENTION EVERYONE: ALINA HABBA IS HERE. PLEASE DO NOT TELL THE PRESS, POST HER PICTURE ON SOCIAL MEDIA, OR TELL THE JUDGE. VIOLATORS MAY HAVE THEIR FACES EATEN BY LEOPARDS.”

That should do it.

But here’s the thing: she posed for the picture!

Has she no idea how social media works in this modern age? There was zero chance that wasn’t going to hit the InstaTikBookThingy in a matter of seconds.

As I recall, the judge had to give Ms. Habba a refresher course on how to introduce evidence. How would a social media post of Ms. Habba at a party get into evidence in the court in New York? I wouldn’t be surprised if the answer she gave the judge was that it didn’t happen, it’s all an AI deepfake.

Are there any consequences normally for an attorney who blatantly and obviously lies to a judge in court in order to delay a trial?

Does this sort of thing happen with any frequency? At all?

I imagine at minimum she’s going to have to explain herself at a hearing of the New York Bar.

But will the judge see the photo? Probably not a big fan of social media…

…oh, who am I kidding. A dozen people will have sent it to him by now. So I guess I don’t have to.

Alina: “Oh hey by the way, please don’t post that photo anywhere for a few days, I told some stupid judge or whatever that I’m sick so I don’t have to do dumb court stuff. Thanks!”

Dylan: “Um, gosh Alina, I wish you’d say so before we took the photo. Oopsie daisy!”

Even a few days would have gotten her in trouble. Lying to the judge doesn’t just go away. It’s not like football, where if they don’t throw the flag in time, you get away with the foul.

Habba’s ace in the hole is the ‘She turned me into a newt!’ Defense.

Works every time.

Poor guy sounds like he’s about to cry, and with that my heart cockles and nicely toasted.

[“Wacky Races” announcer voice] “What a ham!”

OK, help me out, here.

I thought it was a juror who was feeling ill and that was why the trial was delayed. That Alina Habba said that she had been exposed to Covid, and used that to agree that a delay was in order. The judge told Team Trump that they could continue with one juror short, but Habba used Covid merely as a reason to take the judge up on his offer.

Of course, if she had been exposed to Covid and though she might be contagious, why was she attending a crowded party a few hours later?
