the almost turkey day mmp

Hiiiiiiii!

Still a little drugged up, but things went pretty well.

Becks, I hear ya. I hate doctors’ offices. I hate waiting rooms. I hate waiting. It sucks to have a time-sucking “hobby” you hate. What I hate worst of all are EYE CHARTS. Loathe 'em with a purple passion. First, I’m an overachiever. I hate flunking tests. Second, they remind me how badly my vision sucks. Third, pushy techs: “Try harder. Take your time. You can do it.” Yes, folks, vision is all a matter of will power. If only I could have stopped my car on I-5, walked up to signs, and worked at it…

Wait. How did I make this about me? Dang it. I’m sorry you have to spend so much time keeping your body functioning. You deserve a life of doing all the things you like, including plugging pigs and planting posies.

EmilyG: You just enjoy the tail end of those drugs, honey. When do get the results?
**

Wet One**: Bronchitis on top of quitting smoking is too much. Kudos to you-dos on for sticking with it.

Thats about average these days. I remember the past like everything from my past; in my mind MMPs were 8 and 10 pages. But I looked back 15 years and they were about the same as now. The first one that shows that I started was 2010 and it went 5 pages total.

Although I swear I started a couple earlier in the GardenTraveler days. But I could be wrong about that. But if it wasn’t for MMPs my “threads started by” and post count would both be MUCH lower.

My MacMini hasn’t been supported in ages and now all the software is so old that FaceBook and most other sites are basically “Look here you dinosaur ---- what are you freaking nuts?”. We got a Windows system because I needed it for HR support at Da Jungle but ----- I still prefer my Apples. Its just the cost of something new(er)! I have mentioned that I’m basically a cheapskate, right?
Other than that the OW decided to pass another cold along to me and our crush at irk has begun early. I may VET this weekend – or not. Am playing it by ear.

Mooooom, check out YouTube for a fix to get your files back.

metal mouse, I still have my Windows 7 computer stashed for when I want to play games or something (I have the PopCap suite on there with a bunch of old lady games :stuck_out_tongue: ). Windows 10 isn’t very intuitive for those of us who have used Windows for a long time. There again, Google and YouTube are your friends when learning. Does Ali-bammy have a tax free weekend in the spring? If not, drive a few miles north to Tennessee and take advantage of ours. Any computer under $1500 is eligible (I’ve bought three that way).

nellie, have you considered a Hi-Viz vest? https://www.magidglove.com/Tingley-JobSight-High-Visibility-Safety-Vest-V73832LXL.aspx?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Shopping%20-%20Tingley%20-%20Heat%20Resistant,%20Reflective%20and%20Other%20Protective%20Clothing&utm_term=4581046483865545&utm_content=Heat%20Resistant,%20Reflective%20and%20Other%20Protective%20Clothing%20-%20High%20Visibility%20Clothing They or a Hi-Viz shirt are required on our docks at irk and in the warehouse and I can spot one clear across the building (roughly three city blocks long). Orange tends to be the most visible.

Glad everything went well emily. I hope that this sheds some light on whatever is wrong with you.

Irk was irksome. Our system was slower than mud and it took four hours to do what I would normally do in 1.5. Getting some things both here and there wrapped up in preparation for the trip next week. I need to stop at Cricket for a prepaid sim card / data service for the tablet before I go. Dad is in the dark ages and I don’t feel like squinting at my phone to stay in touch for five days. :stuck_out_tongue:

Posting from FCD’s old laptop - I’m not going to mess with my machine till tomorrow.

We went to Salsa’s for supper and I’m about to assume the knit position. My brain is burned…

Ate dinner. Played w puppy. Tahred. TGIF almost.

I just saw that in a traditional dressing (bread, onion, celery, sage, stock) that one should add 1 or 2 beaten eggs to the mix. Anyone ever do that?

Evening all. Soon as this message is done I’m getting my cheeseburger love on.

Got my flu shot, first time in a decade or more, hardly felt it and no reaction that I can tell. Haven’t caught the flu on 20 years (only the occasional 24-hour bug) but since (1) I’m 66 now and (2) I generally have only scorn for anti-vaxxers, it seemed the proper thing to do.

Nappage has been completed…nearly 90 minutes, guess getting up early wasn’t so great.

Red, Ali-bama does have a couple tax-free weekends, but usually near the time school starts, I’ll keep an eye on Tennessee.

Midget, take care.

Bumba, like Mooooommm, my gall bladder was yanked about 25 years ago. Avoid greasy foods (it’s vegetarian time for you) and eat several small meals. You will feel a lot better once it’s gone.

nellie, best wishes to your son. I lived with a person with constant recurring pain (my mom) for many years and it isn’t pleasant, for the person or those close to them. Hope they can treat it.

Ruble, seems like when I joined in, we usually got to the start of page 6, but now we’re pretty constant at finishing on page 5. Some of the other posters (doggio, flytrap, gotti, Midgeti.e) who might post a combined 25-30 posts a week aren’t around that much. Hopefully some of the newer blood ((nellie, Becks, Bumba) will keep posting and bring in more folks.

OK, time to Burger up! All y’all take care.

I make a huge pan of dressing for holidays. I put 6 beaten eggs and incorporate it good. Right before putting in the oven. I also chop 6 boiled eggs in the mix.
I think the size pan is a full steamer pan size.

Howdy Y’all! I managed mowage this afternoon. Go Me! Other than that this has been a slacker day. I like me a good slacker day! We swiped The General’s sup and all is good.

Midget glad it went well and is over. The drugs are good ain’t they!

Bumba everybody I know who has had their gall bladder yanked says they felt so good after it was all over. I’m told that greasy foods and nuts are bad for a cranky gall bladder.

MetalMouse, Bumba is an old timer who came back. He is one amongst all us Olde Phartes of the MMP.

ETA: Cad aigs are good as a binder. I put ‘em in after I have declared the seasonin’ to be just right. I won’t test after I put in the aigs cause I don’t eat raw aigs. ICK!

I got a flu shot the other week. Some autistic people like to joke that when they get a shot, they get their autism renewed or topped up. (But it’s a joke! We don’t actually believe that. :stuck_out_tongue: )

Yeah, the drugs are all right. I’m a bit scared, because apparently I’m supposed to have someone monitoring me for the next 24 hours, though I’m by myself. But I think as long as I have someone take me home from the hospital, I’ll be fine, and my dad went home with me.

St Cad, Like beck and swampy, I put a couple of beaten eggs in dressing.

No eggs in the dressing. Period, end of discussion.

Here you go.

Seriously, if you want suggestions on lights, I know a lot of the good ones as I have many of them. LMK.

If you’re gonna get one, go for a Class 3 vest; Red’s link is to a Class 2 vest. Class 3 is more reflective than Class 2.
Twas a good day, was over the big city in our resident rotorhead’s favorite form of transit; got some cool pics, too. Though it was a bit scary on some of the turns; the brain knew I was strapped in but the doors wuz off & there’s no hang on handles in a jet ranger.
Then on top of that, I won a bet. Free drinks (sent to me). Woohoo!!!
Unfortunately, I fully suspect that there will be welching, “Bet? What bet? I don’t remember any bet.”
Let me refresh your memory, it was about the best hockey team in the MMP. :stuck_out_tongue:

Walk to grocery store delayed: out-of-state friend with severe rheumatoid arthritis fell and couldn’t get back up. I thought of calling 911 but she’s in a different state. She did finally make it back up. I was able to argue her into getting one of those emergency alert buttons. She shouldn’t live alone, but she’s very stubborn. The emergency button was a tough sell.

I did get to grocery store, but 'twas chillier than I thought, and my hands got extra-painful (from Raynaud’s from lupus), but I bought gloves for the walk home. When I got out of the store, dark and fog had descended. **missred **and spiderman, thanks for the recommendations. I ordered a class 3 vest from Amazon. Wish I’d had it when I was walking home!

Nellie- boy I’m glad you ordered the vest. We could change fashion trends. I wear an orange high-vis vest when I walk the dogs this time of year. Plus I talk alot, loudly.

Your friend- Wow that’s scary. If there’s a next time you can call her county’s sheriff office. Tell them to do a well check. Then they determine if an EMT unit is needed.

I called mutual friend who lives 5 or 6 miles from fallen friend. Unfortunately, mutual friend was out of town, but she gave me dispatch number for local sheriff. My biggest concern is if she falls and her phone isn’t within reach. This happened last summer, and if a friend hadn’t dropped in a few hours later, who knows what would have happened. People tried to talk her into an alert device then, but she resisted. I was relieved I talked her into it today.

Do you have glow-y stuff your dogs wear for walks? I used to hang flashy lights to my dogs’ collars. I wanted something for the tail end of the black lab but couldn’t find anything. I miss her. And my other dog. They lived to ripe old ages, but it’s never long enough.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 44 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 73 and partly cloudy (mostly N.O.S.?) for the day. Today I shall accomplish the usual [del]church janitor[/del] Junior Warden duties over to the church house and take care of a few necessary errands whilst out and about. Sup shall be hamburger steak with onion 'n mushroom gravy, smashed N.O.T. and some vegetative matter tbd. I’m sure there’s sump’n in da freezer that will catch my fancy. Hmm… does one fancy veggies? I like most veggies so maybe one or two will.

nellie yikes about your friend. Good for you for talkin’ her into an alert thingy.

As for the “real ID”, I got mine a couple of years ago when last I renewed my dl. In Jawja I could “pre-register”, i.e. download and fill out the necessary forms and take them to DDS (what Jawja calls the DMV). I handed it over along with the ID stuff and was in and out of there within half an hour. I was amazed!

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands to be fed. Then, alas, alack, and bother, I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Life is so hard!

Happy Firday Y’all!

Posting from the laptop - later today, I’ll try to figure out my computer, or haul it to the repair guys. At least I can function on line!

It’s dreary and overcast, and rain is promised today and tomorrow. I was going to do leaves today, since earlier in the week, it was supposed to be sunny. Yeah, right. Maybe next weekend.

As for today, I hope to finish the current lap robe then toss them all into the washer so I can take them to Mom’s next week. And I saw the leftover steak in the fridge, which will be sliced, then combined with onions and 'shrooms and cooked in gravy, served over noodles or rice, depending on how I feel this afternoon. Nice to have supper planned.

Onward into the day! Happy Firday!!

Up, showered but not yet sheveled. Is that how you spell it? I don’t wanna go to irk. Today is payroll day so I must. After irk we are all going to a former clerks house for happy hour. I don’t wanna go there either but I don’t see any way out of it.

I add eggs to my cornbread dressing after the seasoning is right just like Swampy.

OK off to get dressed.

Happy Firday.
