The Amazing Race 12/9: Finale (possible spoilers)

Good finale!

Spoiler space…

Proving that the only leg where 1st counts is the last one! Goooo Beekmans!

Once the Twins were eliminated, I would easily have been happy with any one of the final three winning, so I didn’t have that nasty taste in my mouth watching a team I couldn’t stand being ahead.

Very good season, I thought.

Wow. I did not see that coming.

The Twins were two vile, reprehensible cunts, and I couldn’t be more happy that they are finally done.

And if James (or is it Jaymes?) doesn’t stop talking about his pore, pore Paw, and how real, real sick he is and how much he needs lots & lots of money, I will personally pay someone to hunt his Doomed Daddy down and put him out of his misery right to-fucking-night…

Go hapless Goat Farmers!!!

I actually shed a couple of tears because…THEY WON! THE BEEKMANS WON!

I love underdogs.

:resists urge to nyah-nyah at the twins:

Hey Twinnies, I guess that’s karmic payback for stealing the Rocker’s money. You get beaten by “the gays.”

I’m very happy with the Beekman Boys winning. The did have their whiny moments, but they stuck in there, and pulled it off. The only time it really matters to come in first place is the last leg!

Really? I thought it was sweet that Jaymes and James had other reasons for wanting to win. The one who was so happy to win a car so he could give it to his mom? I was sad that they didn’t win. They kept their humor the entire race.

Sometime in the last few legs, I caught up with the disdain for Sri Lanka, so I was more than happy when they were eliminated. The comment about “the gays” was the limit. I think their downfall on the past two legs had been concentrating too much on their dislike for other teams and not enough on their own racing.

Good for the Beekmans, sure, but I’d rather have seen the Chippendales win.

I thought the United Nations language task was one of the best finale tasks in awhile. When you think about it, it makes sense to take notes during the race on the visuals, but nobody EVER thinks of what the hosts are saying…good call, Amazing Producers!

Nothing against Trey and Lexi or the Chippendales, but they’re just stereotypical winning teams. It is so refreshing to see a non-stereotypical team finally win this

I thought it was kind of sad that only one team knew that the symbol was for the United Nations.

“The Gays” made me go :dubious: too, but then a few minutes later, the Beekmans (totally unprovoked) referred to themselves as “The Gays.” It was probably a running gag that we saw very little of thanks to the Amazing Editors.

I WILL NOT CRACK A JOKE… I WILL NOT CRACK A JOKE… I WILL NOT CRACK A JOKE… I WILL NOT CRACK A JOKE… I WILL NOT CRACK A JOKE… I WILL NOT CRACK A JOKE…

Yes, the Beekmans, which shows what a leg up they had in the final challenge. I’m sure he was making guesses just like the other two, but they were educated guesses and that’s why he finished first.

It’s no secret that I originally had no love for the Goat Farmers (frankly, their attitude for 90% of the Race screamed “Can’t we just give up and go home already?”) but I think they were the most human, decent people in the running once James & Abba were eliminated, and my feelings seemed to be borne out when the banner hoist smacked Lexi (smug, entitled bitch that she is) on her noggin, and Josh momentarily stopped competing to run over and make sure she was OK.

And I agree that the final task was indeed an excellent one, which is something the Amazing Race desperately needs to put more effort into if they want to keep people (or at least this person) watching…

Great final task, and the way the tall Goat Guy (I never did learn their names) went about solving it calmly and systematically – very impressive. Good thing they (producers they, not contestants they) gave the okay after each flag was correct, because if it was done on the whole batch and they had to figure out where the problem was they’d still be there.

I spent a good solid five minutes saying “sonofabitch, they won?”

Evil gays win. I did not see that coming.

Good final two hours. Very glad the Bitchies didn’t get into Final 3

When the EVIL TWINNIES! left the mushroom caves before the Beekmans, I fully expected the girls to beat the boys when the latter once again got lost on the way to the Pit Stop. I was so glad when the EVIL TWINNIES! got Philiminated that I forgot that we’d have to endure watching the Beekmans bumble their way through the rest of the race. Then they pulled that amazing (pun intended) victory, proving that you only need to come in first on the final leg.

A classic finish to one of the best seasons of the race.

Great finale! I was pleased the Beekmans won, I would have been happy with any of the final three. That final task was a killer! It really could have been any of them at that point. They were at that last task for over 2 1/2 hours!

It was a bit pathetic that only the Beekmans knew the symbol for the UN.

I work just two blocks from Gotham Hall and have been there many times. I wonder when the finale was filmed.

Seriously. How do people not know that? At least the team that knew is the team that won.

I’m happy with who won. I would have been fine with any of the three winning, but less happy if it had been Trey and Lexie. But that’s because they knew about the Twins stealing the Rockers’ money and didn’t say anything.

I loved “I thought they were just being cordial.” The Chippendales definitely grew on me.

Also, this was a wonderful final task, one of the best in a while.

Not only that, but Lexi didn’t know who Houdini was.

I feel pretty much how others here did - VERY happy when the Twinnies got eliminated, and didn’t really have a favorite among the last three, but nice to see the Beekmans win. The last few challenges definitely played to their strengths (smarts and menial labor) and avoided their weaknesses (anything athletic).

Loved James’ comment about how “we got to the mat, they bowed, and said BLAHBLAHBLAH.” Exactly how I think I would feel on the Race. Teams know they need to remember something about previous stops, but remembering what they said is new. (I know before they had to match a picture of the person with the country, or put the countries in order, etc…)

Surprised there’s been no mention of the terribly obnoxious product placement dressed up as if it were somehow a task

I think we’ve all just been beaten down by it. It’s horrible and getting worse each season, but I don’t see that changing.

But yes, that earned a lot of derision in my household.
