The American Coup Fallout thread

Dogs know. They always know.

Fuckin’ A, Major, you’re a badass:

Charming:

But – as discussed here ad nauseum – it’s nowhere near as easy as “don’t let the door hit ya’ where your Chimerical Lord hit ya’”

If only …

Yeah, but those people are idiots. They thought putting Trump in the Oval office was a good choice. They utterly lack the ability to thoughtfully consider the ramifications of their choice. They live in a fantasy where leaving the US doesn’t otherwise alter anything about their lives. They’re really stupid. And proud of it.

That story’s a year old, you know.

When Major could still smell Trump on them.

I mean, yes. That’s the point.

Bye-bye cry guy.

Imagine how they all would cry if their sentences were equal to their offences.

Compared to what the usual sentence is for a failed revolution, 3 years is a slap on the wrist. They should be thrilled for the leniency.

Yes, they should have been crying tears of joy for getting such a light sentence compared to the multiple crimes they committed. What if a pair of black guys had lead a mob and assaulted the police. They would have been shot on the spot.

They probably still imagine themselves to be Big Damn Heros American Patriot Action Movie Stars. They want to be celebrated, not officially branded traitors.

Welp, that means they needed to win.

And unless we are very lucky, the most any of them will serve is 2 years 6 months and 5 days — that is if they started their sentences today. It makes it seem almost futile,

I’d be okay with that if the bigwigs who fomented and set the plot into motion serve 10 - 20. I’m not holding my breath, though.

But there’s a good chance that no one will serve, as of today, more than 2 years, 6 months and 5 days and that’s if they start their sentence today. If the bigwigs start their sentences exactly 6 months from today, they will not serve more than 2 years and 5 days.

It doesn’t matter what the charges and sentences are, there’s a very good chance no one will remain incarcerated for or face any consequences for January 6th related crimes after January 21st, 2025. That’s why I’m frustrated by the slow pace.

I wish this were not a strong possibility.

But I’m convinced that it is. Someone at DOJ who shall remain nameless in this post appears to believe that the USA is in ‘business as usual’ mode, where the Republicans who are in power now are patriots of integrity, and a slow-but-steady approach, accumulating evidence over a number of years and then deciding whether or not to indict, makes all kinds of sense.

That’s not the world we’re living in at all.

That assumes that they are still capable of doing solid work after years of getting by on the ability to kiss the Great Orange Ass.

Trump is being investigated by the DoJ.

Certainly his own people knew that they were promoting bullshit theories to try to get Trump to stay in power. The question is, did Trump direct them and/or did he know about these lies?

"“We would just be sending in ‘fake’ electoral votes to Pence so that ‘someone’ in Congress can make an objection when they start counting votes, and start arguing that the ‘fake’ votes should be counted,” Jack Wilenchik, a Phoenix-based lawyer who helped organize the pro-Trump electors in Arizona, wrote in a Dec. 8, 2020, email to Boris Epshteyn, a strategic adviser for the Trump campaign.

In a follow-up email, Wilenchik wrote that “‘alternative’ votes is probably a better term than ‘fake’ votes,” adding a smiley face emoji."

From Slate: “Unfortunately for Mr. Wilenchek, an emoji defense would not hold up in court here.”
