Just to clarify my unclear position above - S’what happens when I post a quickie on my way out the door.
My disgust is not with the mods, admins, or Una. It is with the drama that arose from the situation. The fact that so many people who did not have a clue what was going on found the need to post assumptions, jump to conclusions, send massive e-mails, and create rumors.
As I said above, I do think it would have been better left off the boards for the simple reason that there are those few who like to turn situations such as this into a huge drama. Those few who can’t comprehend the words “It is a matter between Una and the Mods. Please trust us and leave it at that”.
That should have been enough for us all to drop it. It’s too bad that those words were not enough, that people still felt the need to make it their business when it is not.
True, Diane, and I confess to overreacting when I first heard about it. But the important thing is: Coalette ain’t DEAD, people! She isn’t even that far away! Jimminy Christmas!
Una, I hope your problems are resolved and you choose to return to this board. Thank you for coming back long enough to explain what would otherwise have been a mystery. Hopefully everyone’s learned something from the needless speculation on what happened: if you don’t know what’s going on, you don’t know what’s going on; if it’s none of your business, it’s none of your business; and, if you have no reason to assume the worst, you have no reason to assume the worst.
If I was wrong, it was in the fact I made my past errors known here. I agree my past on this board has been very dramatic…I am not blind, I am not stupid.
I emailed Una after her email but I was honest in my post and honest in my email, something that I think is important to realize here.
I want Una to have the best, I explained my reasoning to state what I stated. I am not one to pull punches. I am not one to sugar coat things, I never have been and I think you all know that what I state comes from my heart with good intentions.
Was I overly harsh? Possibly, depending upon how well you know me but I have never been one to give one a fluffy view of things. If you have an issue and I disagree with it, I will tell you. Honesty is important to me, which is why I keep coming back to this place. I have learned a lot from the people that gave me the harshest critism even if I didn’t like them. I have learned a lot from those in my life, on here, on AOL and in my real life that have stopped me in my tracks to tell me I am not being realistic or that I am being unreasonable or that my actions or others actions that centered around me were wrong.
Did I like it? Hell no. In fact I hated it at the time. But I reflect on those critisms and have learned a lot from them, in an unwilling manner but I learned.
My only wish is the best for Una, I think she knows that. Because I had a negative light about this thread and not a completely supporting word to say I am viewed as being overly harsh. Okay I can accept that but I think the whole thing could have and should have been handled better.
I apologize to Una for coming across as an ass as that was not my intention. I also explained to her why I feel this way (I think.) But if I haven’t learned from my own mistakes here (that are obviously being thought about here) then how the hell can anyone grow? If I see something someone does or says on here I disagree with (friends or not) then I think it is my duty to say something, much like many of you do.
So we’re all pots, we’re all kettles and we’re all black.

jarbaby, I think that they put her on Sabbatical rather then having her just vanish and raise concern as to what happened to her. No one would notice if I disappeared, because I am just a lurker. You’re only going to be on vacation for a week, so you’ll be back. But what would people think if you went on vacation for say…a month? People would notice you missing, and there would be concern. Basically I think that her status is just to let people know that she is okay and that she is fine IRL (though I guess fierra would let us know if something wasn’t). In other words, she is fine and shall return once she gets things straightened out, hence “Sabbatical” rather than just plain disappearance

I almost started talking about how it isn’t our “duty” to call it as we see it, but I realized that, while it is unpleasant to call out friends when we disagree with their actions, it is really inherent in friendship. If we, as friends, can’t say it, who will? Some jerk in the Pit, that’s who.
However, that duty comes into direct conflict with the need to be specially tolerant of our friends’ foibles. ESPECIALLY since we all have foibles of our own THEY need to tolerate.
Conclusion? You’ve known me THIS LONG and you still expect me to come up with a CONCLUSION? Okay, how about “I agree and disagree with just about everything and we have to strike a balance between tolerance and speaking our minds?”
Um, no. Dr. Seigleo was, let’s all sing in chorus now, Sei-gleo. Silo.
To add to the surreal quality of that situation, he also contacted us and asked if his designation could be changed to “On Sabbatical” as well. That’s not going to happen.

On a side note: that new Pepsi drink, Sierra Mist, doesn’t feel nearly as good shooting out through my nose as it does sliding down my throat (of course that can be said about most things :D) )
