The AOL Viral Videos "Emmy"

Go and vote to see which viral video deserves an Emmy![Mod Approved]

Okay, so it may not technically be an actual Emmy, but the YouTubers in question seem to be treating it as such. And so I think, for once, YouTube videos belong in Cafe Society.

AOL, Inc is doing the first anual contest for the best viral video series of 2012, and they are announcing the winner during the 39th Annual Emmy Awards. And, here’s the thing, you get to vote for the winner. New votes every day until June 15.

I won’t tell you how to vote, but I will say I am voting for Kid’s React. I haven’t missed a Sunday release since I found out about it. It’s like Kid’s Say The Darndest things meets ridiculousness of YouTube. The show is so popular that it has created two spinnoffs–Teens React, created when one of the kids aged out, and Elders React, which looks at the Internet from the other side of the spectrum.

I, unfortunately, do not regularly watch any of the other shows, so I can’t tell you much about them. I do know that “Epic Meal Time” is a series about combining the most ridiculous ingredients of “man food” into extremely large portions and watching people eat it. “Can’t Hug Every Cat” is a single fake eHarmony video about the craziest cat lady you’ll ever hear of. And while they’ve never appeared on Kids React, I have seen a few Jake and Amir episodes, and the basic point of the series is that Amir is a crazy, socially challenged complete idiot that Jake has to put up with, and they wind up in crazy adventure, both in the mundanity of the CollegeHumor offices and out in the real world. I’m not sure why they get a specific video named, while the other two series are just in toto.

Videos are on the voting page, but here links to series:

Go forth and pick your best. And if you want to explain your vote, the thread’s open.
