I very rarely wander outside GD, The Pit, CS and GQ. But today I had some time to kill before heading over to a party, and I thought I’d see what other forums might be interesting. I had never heard of “The Barn House”, so I checked it out.
WTF? This forum was started in 2008 and it has one (1) thread in it (other than the thread that kicked it off)?
What am I missing? Why not just have an ongoing thread in CS?
Depending on your settings that is probably only one thread in the last (whatever time frame you have selected here).
The thread count from forum selection page says 142 threads are in that forum.
The purpose of the forum is to help sell Ed’s book. So it’s not likely to go anywhere, even though the threads there would fit perfectly well into any of the regular forums. And yeah, there are 142 threads in it.
So why do I only see one thread? Where are the other ones?
Go to your user control panel, look under options, then something like “default thread age cutoff”, see if you have something other than the default value set. Might also check number of threads per page.
Hope that’s not too arrogant for you. I hear I can be arrogant sometimes.
As Oakminster said, it’s because of your forum settings. At the bottom of the barn house page under display options you can choose:
From the:
Last Day
Last 2 Days
Last Week
etc.
Choose, for example, Last 75 days, and click the show threads button.
ETA: Whoops, Oakminster posted before I was finished…
OK. I guess I never figured the default would be set to “1”. I’ve never fiddled with that setting for any of the forums, and they always show lots of threads. Interesting.
