If it was a long-standing tradition that all the other managers jumped over a cliff, would Torre too?

I can understand a slight favouritism, but in the Posada case, I think Torre went too far. The Baltimore fans have been cheated. I’d be really angry right now, if I was one. There just isn’t that big of a difference between Posada and Johnson, and in that case, the player from the least represented team should go.
The Orioles are only sending ONE guy, and he may not even play; the Yankees are sending four.

The Not So All-Star Game

This is getting depressing, really. So far MIA on Tuesday night will be :

Pedro
A. Rod
Big Mac
Junior Griffey
Barry Bonds
Maddux
(and thanks to Clemmons) likely Piazza too

I understand why injured players do not want to risk playing in a game that doesn’t count . . . but as a fan it still strikes me as disapointing. Can anyone remember a year with so many starters out ? There appears to be no way (save I guess moving the game to pre-season) to alleviate this problem. I’m just glad now that I am not one of those who paid $150 for a ticket.

::sigh::

Come on, It’s not like it’s gonna be a bunch of bush-leaguers out there! If you watch the game you are gonna see some fantastic players like:
Gary Sheffield, Kevin Brown, Darrin Erstad, Jason Giambi, Pudge Rodriquez, Sammy Sosa etc. etc.
