First full day of irk turned into a seven hour and one minute day thanks to the 59 minutes granted by the CO. Three day weekend.
Got home to no beer (I knew there was none) but didn’t want it enough to go get any. Neighbors brought ribs, tater salad and a caprese salad of sorts. Was good. Plus the lady neighbor is a retired RN and always brings her blood pressure gizmo and give hubs a look see. He is better but his BP is very low thus no energy. At least I think a low BP would make one puny. Maybe it is by design that the Dr. is prescribing meds to keep it low thus keeping him in a resting stage. The man is really starting to get aggravated. And a smidge depressed.
We have tickets to see Willie Nelson on Moanday night. I really hope he is up for it as these were not cheap. Worst case I will give them to someone but I really hope we can go. I think an outing with a distraction will do us both good. I bought these way back in November for his BD, Christmas and our anniversary but he paid me back for my Christmas and anniversary. Y’all figure that one out. Be a damn shame to miss out.
Nellie. I only have four employees. One is just 20 and the other daytime one that works with her most days fills her head with bs. Also that one asked me today if she could become full time instead of flex. I told her I would have to look at my billets and sure enough I do have a vacant full time spot but the process is not as easy as simply switching her over. It must be advertised, interviews and on and on. Plus I feel she is a shit stirrer so what’s the point. The 20 yr old one is already full time.
I spent three weeks in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan trying to find a place that still served beshbarmek made with horse-meat. Nope. Best food I never ate.
Today was kind of weepy for me, not because I don’t have a Valentine this year, but because I got to thinking about all the handmade valentines my kids made me, with the crooked, uneven printing and extra glue oozing from the lace. I miss my kids’ youth.
Butters, hope you get to Willie.
FCM, you cracked me up with FCD’s Dutch oven remark.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 36 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 65 and N.O.S. for the day. This is pretty typical weather for this time of year down here. No big plans for the day. Matter of fact, I would be glad to not even leave da cave today. Netflix and sloth would be a good plan. Any need to feed will be via forage. I suppose we could go in search of cheap chawklit, but for now I feel no motivation.
I am so sad about Ruble and so sad for Old_Wench. That is a tough, but right decision to make. I wish peace for both of them in the days to come.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
First thing I saw today was OW’s post about kopek. Dammit. We’ve lost far too many Mumpers and Dopers. Dammit. I just hope his final time is peaceful and pain-free.
After that, life is too mundane. I’ll be cleaning areas of carpet today, because it’s gotten gross and I can’t wait till it’s warm enough to open the house. I also need to toss the afghans I’ve made into a rinse cycle before passing them on for donation. And I don’t know what else is on tap.
Reread the news about kopek/ruble and am sad all over again.
Will actually get out of the house today, supposed to get into the 50’s F and there is soccer registration and uniform passing-out going on and they’ll need volunteers. Still cold right now (29F).
Taking a break - I’ve shampooed about 2/3 of the dining room and about 3/4 of the room I’m in now. That’s because I moved furniture all to one side rather than emptying the rooms. I figure the fans in each room will dry the carpet enough that I can shift the furniture later today and finish shampooing. Then by morning, I can put the rooms back together. And tomorrow, I’ll do the traffic area in the living room. Roxy won’t be here, so I don’t have to worry about her playing on a wet carpet.
I also laundered Higgs’ bedding - an old comforter that we fold up to make a cushiony bed in her crate. It’s nice and clean, and the lint trap on the dryer was full of Higgs hair. I swear, that dog sheds 3X her body weight every day! You should have seen the pile of hair when I moved her crate! Crate isn’t exactly the correct word - it’s more of a cage, and the back and side walls are the corner of the room and the end of the love seat. Her hair is free to collect against the walls, and it does!
Not sure what else I’ll do today. for now, I’m gonna chill a bit.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. I need to buy cat food today. Also, it is
NATIONAL CELEBRATE WISCONSIN DAY
So eat some cheese, and maybe have a Brandy Old Fashioned.
butters, I hope that you get to see Willie. He’s one of my all time favorites and puts on a good show.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, bed stripped, a load of towels and sheets in the wash and the dog crate cleaned. Once KP is done, I’ll roast some nuts with thyme and rosemary from my patio to take to the birthday party tonight. Sometime this weekend, I need to stop at Kroger and Tar-jay for a few things I can’t get at Sprout’s and Aldi. Other than that, taking Nelson to the park is the biggest thing on the agenda.
**FCD **has asked me to investigate toilet innards. Plus we need to get a taller toilet for the master bath. The one we bought when we remodeled was a low profile - looks good, but it’s a little too low for our geezerdom. And I don’t much like the idea of the toilet booster seats.
Cold, 27 degrees, but the sun is shining.
It was 16 degrees when I went to the park this morning.
I slept through the alarms and rushed to get there.
I should have stayed home.
Everything was great until Toby showed up. He is an un-neutered male. I thought Echo was out of heat… she isn’t.
I got her out of there in a hurry.
It wasn’t easy as she didn’t want to leave. She wanted to play with Toby, Toby was wanting to play a different game, Echo wasn’t interested in his game, and Lily kept getting between them trying to push them apart.
I finally got the leash on her and had to drag her out of the park, while Toby’s and Lily’s owners held onto to them until I got through the gate.
I was so flustered I forgot to stop at CVS on the way home. I’l have to go back out to get my scripts.
Going to call Roto-Rooter I guess to fix the toilet. I tried, can’t do it. It was taking about 3 hours for the tank to fill, now it takes more than 24.
Running up the stairs may be good exercise, but is also annoying.
Not much on the agenda for today.
Just irk, and maybe some more paper tossing.
I saw my neurologist yesterday, and I’m lined up for another round of tests. We may be moving into a diagnosis for some of my issues. I’m feeling somewhat apprehensive about it all. The tests are not pleasant, and there’s a long-ish recovery time (and, of course, no guarantees of getting meaningful data). They may tell us something, however, and I should at least try it. My life has gotten fairly restricted lately. It would be nice to be able to do a little more.
The Comcast installer is here today. We’re switching back to them for TV, internet, and cable. My husband works from home and we need Internet that he can rely on. AT&T (the internet provider for DirecTV) sucks. Massively. They have built-in latency, and huge lags for us to access the modem. We have given up trying to fix it. I actually prefer DirecTV for TV, but the bundle is really a lot cheaper.
I’m blue about Ruble. I know there’s nothing that can be done, but I hate it. It feels surreal that it’s happening.
Take care everyone.
Why in the name of the Gods would anyone who remembers the Nixon administration ever choose a low profile toilet? Comfort height is the ONLY way to go!
Moooom, congrats on the shampoo task. Last time I danced with one of those store shampoo rentals, the machine won. After the spine adjustments, I decided it is cheaper and funner to sub it out.
You might remember I got a new comode recently. Cato is the brand. A bit higher, doesn’t drink much. And the lid doesn’t slam down. Has some hydraulic stuff and just lowers gently. It is the cat’s meow. Don’t know if that brand is available in yer country.
SD, good luck with the neurons. Doing more is a good thing. Just avoid doing less. If I arrived a a time where I couldn’t walk, it would be a tuff adjustment.
Here, I been thinking about re-routing leftover chain of events. Normally, I stash them in the fridge. And forget about them until they turn green then toss. Now, the leftovers are offered to the critters first. If they turn up their noses, off to the compost. It has made my life easier.
