The best looking woman born 1922-1942.

Yeah, I was trying to make the point that (even though she had a terrific body) she didn’t have to show skin to be beautiful. Same with Bettie Page.

In fact, I think Barbara Eden was at her most beautiful in the episode of The Andy Griffith Show entitled The Manicurist, where she hardly showed any skin at all – just some leg.

I was going to suggest Rita Hayworth, but she was born in 1918. Therefore, I’ll go with Raquel Welch.

Betty Joan Perske
Constance Ockleman

Great call! I think she is one of the most beautiful women ever. And always underrated when it comes to lists like these. Though it’s hard to argue with Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor, and Audrey Hepburn.

I also think that one of the great beauties is Capucine, though I can’t find many good pictures of her.

There are a couple here.

I am really surprised I am the only person that nominated Audrey Hepburn.

Yep. Shall we do the gents next?

And, although you couldn’t tell from the photo, she has sharp knees.:stuck_out_tongue:

Actually, my only objection to Bardot is the fact she’s chosen to spend her golden years spewing racist Neo-Nazi political rhetoric.

I’ve always liked Angela Lansbury.
I’ve said this before but if you compared a photo of a young Angela Lansbury with one of Nicole Kidman, you could be easily convinced they’re related. I don’t know if this will ever happen (Lansbury’s in her 80s) but I’d like to see a project that features Lansbury playing Kidman’s mother or grandmother.

Even though the thread has been declared over — more than once, it would appear — I’d still like to submit Jean Simmons.

(IIRC, I spent a good part of The Big Country wondering what possessed Gregory Peck to prefer Carroll Baker. Fortunately, he came to his senses by the time they rode off into the proverbial sunset.)
I wondered about that myself the first time I saw the movie on TV when I was 13. Sure, Baker’s character was pretty but she was also a vapid rich girl who probably would’ve ended up being absolute hell to be married to. (Of course, that was probably the movie’s intent.)

Incidentally, it’s too bad this thread wasn’t set up for voting.

OP could use this thread for nominees and start a new thread with a poll.

Don’t leave any out. Even those without pic links should get a fair shot. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, dear. I see Grace Kelly has won. I can’t disagree.

However, I do humbly submit three lovely ladies who are all tied for second, IMHO.

Mamie Van Doren

Lee Remick

Katherine Ross

Alas this young lady is out of the zone, being born in 1950. However I am surprised that a recent photo taken last year would have only hints of the woman I once knew back in the 70’s with other young lads my age.

It was once a war between her and the young lady that played cassiopeia on BSG, that vied for my undying love, lol
Seriously , I sorta expected that she would have aged more finely.

Declan

Just for the record, Laurette Spang.

As a film noir fan, I’ll cast my vote for Jane Greer, born 1924. Especially as she appeared in the classic film Out of the Past.

That’s HEDLEY!!

Oh, wait…wrong movie!

I would go with Grace Kelly

 1. Have to go with Sophie.
 2. One who was always a killer, killer babe, and held up so incredibly well, looks- wise, but so rarely comes to mind, and, IMHO, even tops Jeannie, is Suzanne Pleshette. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://assets.nydailynews.com/img/2008/01/20/gal_suzannepleshette_2.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/galleries/suzanne_pleshette/suzanne_pleshette.html&usg=__w3ll4kIi0PbeYkjwObUmjeOeyuU=&h=450&w=365&sz=39&hl=en&start=15&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=wv7Qw4oCSBHRLM:&tbnh=127&tbnw=103&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dsuzanne%2Bpleshette%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1T4RNTN_enUS374US374%26tbs%3Disch:1

I must endorse your views on this matter.

What, no Anita Ekberg?

Third picture, actually.

A beautiful girl, but that photo really doesn’t do her justice. A better one, IMHO: http://cariart.tripod.com/Laurette_Spang.jpg

I’m on Team Grace Kelly. In college I took a film class and the first shot of the future Her Serene Highness in Rear Window brought out the only audible gasp of the entire semester.
