The best Tom Cruise films

I also enjoyed that, once I decided it was a comedy. I mean they named the Auto Parts store DeFault Auto Parts.

Also Edge of Tomorrow. He was great dying a lot.

Tropic Thunder isn’t really a “Tom Cruise movie” though.

He is however perfectly good in most of his films. He’s absolutely outstanding in Minority Report, Born on the Fourth of July, and Rain Man. His turn on Collateral was also first rate, though, again, he’s not exactly the star of the film.

It’s rare for a pretty boy type to be a good actor to be, but he is.

Tom Cruise is 55 years old, but he looks about 15 years younger than he is, moves like a man about 20 years younger.

I don’t get it.

I haven’t read the other thread on this topic so apologies if this was already covered, but:

No love for Eyes Wide Shut or Vanilla Sky?

To be honest, I wasn’t crazy about either of those movies as a whole, but I thought Cruise’s acting was quite good in both.

The only Cruise movie I’ve seen more than once is Rain Man, and it wasn’t because of Cruise.

I kind of enjoyed that one where he’s dead but comes back.

Looking at his filmography, I’m surprised to see how unfamiliar I am with most of his work. With that in mind, I have to say that I like War of the Worlds a lot.

Most people have probably noticed that the characters he plays are often portrayed as jerks who gain some kind of insight by the end of the film.

I think the “jerk” scenes in these films are part of why many people find him irritating, as he’s seen as being pumped with juvenile attitude, energy and success. His character in War of the Worlds was portrayed as having the opposite qualities, and I think this allowed me to see his work in a new light.

I likedLegend, but not because of Tom Cruise.

Yeah, I’m surprised those two aren’t in everyone’s list.

I don’t think I realized how many great movies TC starred in until reading this thread.
