The best TV show ever out on DVD

Well, of the relatively few I own, my vote goes to “The Office”. I think the dvd format works well for it, as it is best to watch them in order, and since there are only 12 episodes (plus the christmas special), it’s fun to blow through it on a weekend.

Some of the extras are pretty funny as well. I love Ricky Gervais practicing the “gracious loser” look he’s going to give when of course they are going to lose the golden globes (which of course they ended up winning).

Plus the DVD format is great for yanks, as sometimes you need to replay bits here and there to understand them, and it comes with a handy britishisms dictionary, too!

No love for My So-Called Life?

I’m really not sure of the answer to this one. It’s one of:

Blackadder
Fawlty Towers
Ripping Yarns

(And I’m very pleased that I just visited the UK, and bought Ripping Yarns on DVD there, and have now converted one of my DVD players to Region 2 just to play Ripping Yarns. It deserves a DVD player all to itself).

Fired? I thought he quit.

But it’s precisely the purity of the single-season experience that made it so wonderful.

Well,
that means I can get rid of my tapes. Yeah, I’ve got tapes. Every episode.

The first season was brilliant… (perhaps not the best ever, but far better than you’d have expected given ABC’s tinkering and the ratings…) I hated the Anthony LaPaglia season, which might be why I never watched Without a Trace. But watching Benzali v. Tucci was great tv.

I always heard that Benzali quit.

Maybe only from us cool people named Max.

Nobody’s mentioned The Twilight Zone yet, so I’m obliged to now (though I did enjoy the 1st M1 season)

I do love the Dope. Where else could *Sports Night, Wonderfalls, * and Firefly all get brought up in a discussion of this nature.

What a wonderfull time to be alive.
