Oh the show has always had sex-related jokes and situations. It’s just that it seems to be relying on this more lately.
I found the scene extremely tame. Was it really any more overtly sexual than a scene where Penny and Leonard are making out and begin to undress, then cut to scene of them out of breath and unclothed in a bed together?
My only point was that a lot of people like being spanked, and I don’t think it was notably out of place for a show that contains a lot of sex jokes to include a joke about spanking.
Wolowitz used to be an enormous horndog. Now that Bernadette has made an honest man out of him, the oversexed member of the group is Amy. A little spanking is positively innocent compared to Howard’s penis being trapped by a robotic arm.
I don’t see it that way, but again it’s just my opinion.
I have no problem with referrences to sex acts, or before and after shots which make clear to the informed that such an act has taken place. But I can’t think of another time that an actual sexual act other than kissing, or perhaps a “slip grope” was portrayed.
An actual sex act took place here, and it was awkward and uncomfortable for most of the people watching it. I don’t really see what there is to argue about.
How about the bolded part? Most? I’d be willing to bet “hardly any.” You could totally remove that group from the viewership of BBT and it wouldn’t even show up in the statistics. Completely insignificant.
What actual sex act? The fully clothed spanking that was completely non-sexual to one of the participants? You thank that’s more awkward and uncomfortable than multiple scenes of Howard with a robot hand squeezing his dick? With absolutely no innuendo at all - the nurse even announced “We’ve got a patient with a robot hand stuck to his penis.”
I’d have no problem letting my kids watch this episode, but there’s no way I’d let them watch the robot hand episode.
See, that’s where it’s so fascinating that everyone is different. I have no problem with masturbation, and would tell my kids there’s nothing wrong with it. Men hitting women, even consensually, I would have a problem with my child seeing. Yes, I know this is irrational. I don’t ask anyone to agree with me. This is just a place to express opinions, after all. Now I’ve expressed mine, too many times, & I’ll probably drop out now
I’ll pop into the middle of this silly argument to say that Leslie was a better geek chick than Amy. Amy was originally presented as a female version of Sheldon, but she’s ending up more like a female version of Howard. I could see Amy ending up in the emergency room with a robot.

Amy is a much better planner than that. Leslie would take risks - Amy would have contingency plans.

I liked it. I laughed. I never for an instant thought they were trying to tell me that ***all or most ***women liked to be dominated. I didn’t think there was anything in this episode that was out of the previous range of behavior on this show. If I still had young children in the house I’d long for the days of a “family hour” that would push this show to 9:30.
I am not even sure they were presenting it as Amy likes getting spanked in general. What got her going was getting sexual attention from Sheldon, even if he didn’t know it was sexual. Just like the vabo-rub to the chest. I doubt she would have the same reaction if it were Leonard or Raj trying to spank her. Penny, yes.
every kid should see that episode and learn the valuable lesson to have your programming fail safe especially in robotics.
I miss “Horndog Howard” a little bit sometimes. I’m glad that he has Bernadette, though – they make a great comedic couple!
