The Big Bang Theory, May 8, 2014 -- "The Gorilla Dissolution"

Raj has gotten laid so many times over the course of the series that his “I am a lonely loser who will die alone” act has gotten really ridiculous.

That may be why they’ve schlemieled Stuart, to take over that role.

Maybe the major move Sheldon considers is experiencing coitus with Amy? Nah, that would ruin the series too.

No kidding. He’s gotten substantially more action than Howard (pre-Bernie.) At least non-professional action.

Could Sheldon’s big move be to the private sector? That might be interesting for a season or two.

Really? Does anyone think the major move refers to anything but his living arrangements now that Leonard and Penny will be moving in together?

Out of curiosity: Is Wil Wheaton, in real life, so hard-up for money that he would take a job in a D-Movie? Celebritynetworth.com is down right now, but I looked him once a long time ago and I think he was worth $500K. Not bad, but could be chump change in his industry.

A net worth of 500k sounds way too low for someone like Wheaton. TNG royalties alone should make him a millionaire, not to mention Stand By Me.

Well, he’s just gotten his own series on SyFy, to premiere later this month, which is being billed as “Talk Soup for Geeks.”

He produces and stars in the Youtube series “Tabletop,” in which celebrity guests play tabletop board games. The first two seasons were sponsored by Google/Youtube; Wheaton sought to expand the third season to other online outlets and turned to Indiegogo to fund it, raising $1.3 million to produce 20 new episodes of the show and simultaneously fund a season-long single RPG show as well.

I’d say he’s not clipping coupons, except for fun, but he’s not crazy wealthy either.

Yeah, and he had that hilarious “almost-but-not-quite” moment with Penny after they both got plastered. How many seasons ago was that?

You don’t know what that word means, either.

Maybe Stuart will move in with Sheldon.

Which would make logical sense. So that’s out.

Leonard will move across the hall with Penny. Amy will realize that there is now a vacancy in Sheldon’s apartment and a light bulb will light up over head (metaphorically). Much pestering will ensue.

Meanwhile, there will be a wedding, and we still won’t know Penny’s last name.

Stuart isn’t smart enough for Sheldon. Though he would agree to even harsher terms in the room mate agreement.

I realize sitcom characters aren’t supposed to be sensible, but how is marrying Leonard going to help Penny get her life on track? What will be different? She won’t have to support herself but she wasn’t doing much of that before.

Emotional security, for one. She’s getting out of her twenties (if not in the 30s already) and it’s time for her to start doing grownup things.

Also, I’m pretty sure that Leonard doesn’t pay all of her bills - he helps her out only when she really needs it (and when mentioning it makes the laughtrack click on). She’s not the kind of girl that would accept that level of financial support for just being a girlfriend.

She gave up her dreams of an acting career, and now needs a new focus in her life, one that doesn’t involve begging for her waitressing job back. She’s now going to focus on being Mrs. Professor Hofstadter, the best faculty wife she can be.

And thus we will learn her last name: Hastle. As in, Penelope Hastle-Hoffstader.

Does anyone think that Penny will choose some other showbiz career, I don’t know make-up or something, and suddenly be successful?

She already has experience as an acting coach.

I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for that wedding. Of course by saying that now they’ll get married in the next episode.
