I am starting this thread in anticipation of tonight’s episode.
Well, that was boring but it was a pleasure seeing Oscar winning actress Regina King’s HR Lady.
“Yes, but I said it in my calming H.R. Voice.”
Loved her role in this episode
I missed the episode where Amy yelled at the other team in the running for the Nobel Prize. Would that kind of thing really make any difference? The Prize is given for “outstanding contributions for humankind in the field of physics”. Who gives a damn if one of the candidates yells at another?
Because it’s all politics? Who knows (or cares, at this point)?
How many more episodes? After watching all these years I have this unfortunate sense that I have to stick it out to the end.
5 episodes left.
It’ll be like getting out of prison.
Oh yeah, she was great! Maybe the best part of the episode.
It was a weak episode, but when they said that Bert met a nurse in the ED, I thought they’d show that it was Althea, the recurring nurse character played by Vernee Watson.
“Please! This is HR! . . . If you want ice, you’re out of luck.”
“just checking to make sure it worked” - exactly what I would have done in that situation.
Well, if she was riffing on him for “performance issues” I’m sure she could make it funny…
I really don’t like the way Bernie bosses Howard around. Even accepting the Jewish-boy-who-lived-with-his-mom stereotype, the man got a Masters degree and went into space. He must have some gumption, but anytime his wife doesn’tlike something she just shuts him down with no real discussion.
Further, would the university really take that attitude toward Amy’s outburst? Doesn’t she actually have the moral high ground? Wouldn’t they stand to make out better if they backed her?
I think you’re right. The other two scientists did steal the idea. The university could have put out a statement, “While Dr. Fowler’s outburst was unfortunate, it stems from a level of frustration we here at CalTech all share. Dr. Cooper and Dr. Fowler’s groundbreaking research and study into asymetry has proven…” blah blah blah.
That would have been magnificent! Vernee Watson is a brilliant comedic actress.
To be honest, I’d have preferred it if Bernadette had insisted on riding the scooter back to the dealer herself to make sure it got returned. And then fallen in love with how fun it is to ride, so she went on a three-hour joyride before bringing it back home.
No dealer. Someone had a for sale sign on it at a CalTech parking lot. (While some used car dealers park their cars around places as if they are private sellers, a university parking lot where would be a poor choice. They prefer busy streets.)
And Howard went into space on a rocket “built by the fine folks who brought you Chernobyl.”. She’s worried about him riding a scooter? OTOH, him spending $800 without talking it over with her is Not A Good Idea.
Has there been a “congrats” of any sort for Regina King in the credits yet? If I was Lorre I would have done that in this episode if not sooner.
Yet Another Idea for The Finale: Raj finishes one of his planetarium shows and Halle Berry comes up to talk to him. She reveals she’s a big fan of Astronomy (and Astronomers). They walk off into the (simulated) sunset. (Sorry, Raj. Sandy B would be a poorer choice.)
Checking https://www.superiorpowersports.com/Mopeds_and_Scooters_s/3.htm it looks like $800 for a used scooter might have been a bit steep
Just realized something. They seem to be heading to a “people move out of the apartments” ending. Cf. the job issue Leonard apparently is going to have in the next episode.
Where would Shamy move? Well, the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton is a well known for attracting Nobel-level folk. And Amy just spent some time there recently. Hmm.
Sheldon go to Princeton? Have you never WATCHED this series.
Even if Sheldon and Amy don’t win the Nobel Prize, the attention should ensure that they get fat raises from Caltech, enough that they should be able to afford something nicer than that one-bedroom apartment (the same one that was affordable by an aspiring actress/waitress).
