it’s a comedy.
though not too funny yet this season.

No one else signed up for the course. When Sheldon talked to someone involved in such things, he was told he had a reputation for being obnoxious (or some other unpleasant quality). Also, apparently he filed a formal complaint against Howard for the spitball incident, and Howard dropped the class as a result, so now there are no students.
That seemed like only about 10 minutes of show and 20 of advertising.
I don’t understand why that bothered him. He should have been thrilled that he had no students. Unless it means that he can’t keep the position, he can use the extra time for his work. It’s not like he wanted to teach anyways. Besides, we learned from an earlier season he’s terrible with students.
Also, while he surely has that reputation amongst his colleagues, would it really have made it to the grad students? All of them?
It’s on Youtube. Also all over the Twitterverse. The last time Sheldon taught a class was quite well documented on social media.
B. Penny’s hair… I don’t love it, I guess it’ll take me some getting used to. I think her hair looked best during the beginning of season 1. But I’m partial to bangs.
III. My nephew was an Adjunct Professor when he had completed his Masters and was hanging around for a year for his fiance to finish up her Masters.
4th. Someone mentioned upthread Sheldon teaching undergrad physics. Don’t TAs generally do that? And didn’t Sheldon have some experience teaching Physics in Europe when he was 14 or 16?
Whether professors or TAs teach undergraduate physics depends on the university. I have no idea what Caltech does.
I assume they’re deliberately calling the position “Junior Professor” so they can do anything they want with it rather than being constrained by reality.
Kaley cut her hair for a movie role. Let’s hope she grows it back. Imagine the jokes Sheldon can make from week to week. And she looks awful.
Stephen Root would be a good/bad addition. Mostly because he could act everybody else off the screen.
Maybe they need to give up half their money and hire better writers.
they will likely have jokes until Penny grows it back or they have an acceptance.
she will have to be wigged if they do any flashbacks.
Why so much hairstyle hate? It is different but it isn’t bad. It will probably up how much I will hate her for the stupid faces she makes all the time but it hasn’t happened in these two episodes.
Hope you didn’t download The Fappening Part Deux. There’s some of that goin on.
Just watched both episodes. I was pretty much over the show before the last three episodes of last season, but gave it one more shot. I’m done with it.
I’ve mentioned before (I think) that the characters have become too one dimensional. Tonight, I figured out the other (more important to me) reason - the show has become about conflicts. It’s not about funny situations, or adventures, or whatever…it’s about characters being rude and mean to each other.
Oh well. It was a good run for a while. I’ll find something else to watch. I’ll probably lurk in the threads to see if anything interesting develops…so keep me posted!
Nice that they mentioned Leibniz cookies (albeit not by name).
I’ve seen the distinction senior/junior professor used many times. But its meaning depends on the college. Usually it distinguishes full profs from the lower categories. But it might also mean tenured vs untenured. At really snobby schools senior profs are the higher category of profs. E.g., ones with chair or equivalent status.
In any case, Sheldon would indeed be a junior professor.
BTW: Since Howard was taking the class, we can assume it was a graduate course. It would be nice for Howard to get his PhD.
Alas, like most sitcoms, they have backslid. The bonding Howard and Sheldon did last season has been forgotten.
Apparently CalTech has been reduced to one administrator who handles sexual harassment complaints, makes tenure decisions and assigns professor workloads for presumably the whole college. And yet has a small, plain, windowless office with no assistant guarding her door.
Given that the show has already established the university’s president’s dislike for dealing with Dr. Cooper, I think it’s safer to assume that in this case, the HR woman drew the short stick and became the resource person for all actions relating to Sheldon.
And face it, who can she complain to, the head of the HR department?
This is exactly the type of bureaucracy you would expect to see in a college that has Junior Professors.
