The Big Bang Theory, Season 8, Episode 22 (April 23, 2015) -- "The Graduation Transmission"

high schools with large numbers of students, with even larger numbers of guest sometimes can’t be contained in the school grounds or buildings. they usually go to a venue.

in phila. the big high schools go to either the convention centre, academy of music, kimmel centre, or stadiums.

my high school had a small class size and we were outside on the school grounds. it had a lot of ground as it is an agricultural high school.

Yeah, at this point I’ve been programmed to expect the worst sort of “something goes horribly wrong” / “character lies and it’s discovered and a fight breaks out” sort of problem, so I was very glad they avoided those this time around.

I thought it was the best episode in awhile. Sheldon and Howard got to tinker with some nerdy tech, Raj got to be devious with his parents, and Penny continues to become a nicer, more mature individual.

I loved the tech support / phone gag.

I went to a very large high school, with one of the largest auditoriums in the county available for a venue, but we had to go to the big auditorium downtown - while other, smaller high schools used our auditorium.

I was waiting for Raj to get a comeuppance for playing his parents against each other but other than his toy going crazy, it seems he was the big winner.

No, it’s quite real time. They even usually do a “jump” in time each summer to cover the summer hiatus. E.g., the guys go on an Arctic expedition or something.

One of the most interesting ones is in S03E16 The Excelsior Acquisition, where Leonard has received a ticket for running a red light in the earlier episode S03E08 The Adhesive Duck Deficiency. The date mentioned for the ticket is in fact the exact date the earlier episode aired.

So, we’re nearing the end of the 8th season and nearly 8 years have passed in show.

That was Sheldon.

D’oh!

How many restraining orders does Sheldon have so far? I know there’s one from Stan Lee and Bill Nye. Did he get one from Leonard Nimoy? I think he had another one too.

It appears that Leonard Nimoy, Stan Lee, Carl Sagan, and Bill Nye all had restraining orders against Sheldon, although Nimoy’s had run out before he died.

The restraining order from Sagan would have had to be when Sheldon was rather young.

You’d figure Raj’s university career would pay plenty, what does he need with his mommy & daddy’s money? Sheer greed?

You’d think, but no. Raj lost his gig with the university a few seasons ago and had to go to work [del]for[/del]with Sheldon for a few years. I’m sure Sheldon paid him squat. Then there’s the problem with his spending habits - he and Howard both buy expensive toys on a whim. That plus a spoiled attitude towards being rich and you have Raj.

Ahh, yes. I assumed he still worked there. I guess he just goes and meets those guys for lunch in the university cafeteria.

He never left the university, just his initial position. He got a new gig last season? doing astrophysics of some sort. So there was a period when he wasn’t making much money other than his allowance from the parents.

Remember, Raj’s parents are “Richie Rich type of Rich.” He might make good money at the university, but not enough to live the lifestyle he’s accustomed to. He grew up in a large house with lots of servants, and in a very poor country.
