Now, remember, the two reasons she got less pit-bullish was because not only the gay (and other, including Jewish) protests, but also because her being the queen of nasty did not fly with audiences - they liked her on the radio, but hated her in person.
So do we get to see her bomb, or is she the next Jerry Springer? (Incoming!)
That sounds like fun. I would be more happy with a cat o’nine tails or something like that to do my version of pimpslapping her with. SSSSHHHHWWWWWHHHPPP! Right across her piehole.
Esprix, why are you on such a vendetta with this subject? I understand that gay rights are very important to you and I’m with ya there, but you’re really starting sound like a prima donna by starting all these threads on what are essentially the same topic.
Yeah, I see your point. It’s my own damn fault for reading the news digest from PlanetOut every day - they keep me informed; over-informed, it may very well be. Perhaps I oughtn’t post that article about the Boy Scout regional leader in California that just came out…
How about, she’s tied to a traditional psych’s couch and then repeated questioned by a bunch of transvestite Orthodox rabbi’s who point our all her failures in interpreting the Torah and Talmud.
Did any of you catch “The West Wing” this week? In a big scene near the end, the President rips a new one for a radio talk show host who is obviously supposed to be Dr Laura. He used all the standard biblical arguments and she sat there in stunned silence. Very cute scene.
Exprix, did you see The West Wing last week? There was a fictional Dr. Laura at some White House reception and Pres. Bartlet went after her- it was the greatest. Aaron Sorkin is a god!
You tell me when and where and I’m in on the bitch slapping party. Even if she wasn’t a homophobic nincompoop who misinterprets scripture, the whole “Dr” thing pisses me off.
And I literally clapped at the end of the West Wing speach. Screw Gore and Bush, Bartlett for President! I don’t care if he’s fictional. Martin Sheen can go on playing him, and Aaron Sorkin can go on writing him!
I don’t normally watch “The West Wing,” although my folks do, so I just happened to catch that speech. Yes, I knew it had been taken just about verbatim from that e-mail going around, but it was well delivered (Martin Sheen has always been an underrated actor, IMHO). I especially liked the end when he said to her, “In this house, you stand when I walk into the room.” {singing} “Go Bartlett, it’s your birthday, go, go, go…” {/singing}
I watch West Wing. I used to watch Sports Night. I think he is responsible for much of the best writing on network TV for the past 2 years.
I consider Laura Schlessinger a small-minded, hypocritical bigot more concerned with self-agganizement than helping her listeners.
Nevertheless, I thought it was a mistake for Sorkin to set up such a straw-man attack in an episode which also contained the tag line “If their shooting at you, you must be doing something right.”
(sorry for the hijack Esprix, but this subject is starting to sound much like a non-alive equine)
Spiritus Mundi, I have to agree. I was a bit taken aback when that line was said. I think it needed a little clarification. At first, we knew what he was talking about, but the words themselves are incredibly ignorant. Even it was said like:
"“If [those assholes] are shooting at you, you must be doing something right.”
Once they specify “they” as your typical nazi/KKK/white supremacist, it does have some meaning.
