the blizzard of 2003

Wow. I’ve lived all my life here in Cali, and I can’t even imagine as much snow as y’all are talking about. I want a college snow day! We don’t even get rain days or flood days when we get our winter rains. The most weather-related excitement we’ve had locally was when a big oak tree (I think it was one of the heritage oaks) blew over when we had our December storms. Oh, and the power was out for a few weeks out in the boonies, but the didn’t affect me so it doesn’t count.

Well, looks like I get another day in Baltimore… Southwest’s site is showing my flight cancelled again and I can’t get thru to their reservation line to reschedule. Unfortunately, I can’t resked on line.

I don’t mind getting an extra day with my sweetie, but my Perfect Child[sup]TM[/sup] is home alone, and I’m burning up precious vacation days and I didn’t pack extra meds :frowning: - I don’t know what missing 2 days of BP meds will do.

Stupid snow.

Tone it down a notch, Opal. It’s snowing again here in Baltimore.

Tone it down two notches, Opal – it’s snowing in Philly, too.

Crank it up, Opal…Very pretty flurries in Somers Point, NJ.

Enough of the dancing already!! I’m now scheduled to leave WEDNESDAY at 2:35. I was supposed to leave on MONDAY at 9:10… I only brought enough clothes and meds to get me thru Monday - looks like I’ll hafta find a washing machine today or fly home dirty.

Stupid stupid snow.

::hogties Opal and buries her under a snowdrift::

FairyChatMom you sound like me. (I’m online at a Kinko’s) I was supposed to fly to Phillidelphia on Monday but for some strange reason they decided to close the airport. All Tuesday flights were full so I can’t fly home until Wed at 1:05 when I get into Philli I’ll have to dig out my mother’s car (unless they didn’t plow the snow into the back of it) or take public transportation home (bus to Philli bus staton then NJ transit to Lakewood then call a friend) and get the car on Sat.

Spent the morning digging neighbors out and watching Groundhog Day. They finally got a plow through our street.

Love snow, grew up in Rochester, NY. This is nothing. A great time to catch up on indoor projects and guitar playing.

I like the community that develops from helping others out in times like these. - Snow Dance!

OMG - she’s a walking time bomb! Stay away from Baltimore Harbor!

Notify the authorities!! Fear, foes, flee!!!

It’s Tuesday, and I’ve been snowed in since Saturday, and I’m not going back to work until friday [I’m a teacher, and the schools are closed Wed. and Thursday.] I’m getting married in July, and at this rate, we’ll still be in school. I’m going to have to take a sick day to get married.

Sheesh.

no opal, no ice in the street. they park the melter right over a storm inlet and the water is steaming as it leaves the melter.

today i got to watch a little snow cat plow the alleys of center city. i want one, they are soooo cool.

i also saw a bunch of people fall trying to leap the mountains of snow at the corners of the streets and a few trucks get stuck in snow banks.

hoping for more snow this weekend.

rain, rain, go away.
send some snow around my way…

Oooo! Glady so! I could really use a few snow days worth of vacation… Now, where’d I leave all those FedEx shipping boxes…

Gladly. Glady? I must have gotten so excitied at the thought of snow, my typing skills went completely out the window.

I talked to my parents again. The power is still out in Lexington but my brother has now brought them a gas powered generator which runs the furnace and, if the lights are turned off, the TV.

chanting, slightly muffled from being under the snow

more snow! more snow! more snow! more snow!

Hey, everybody, thanks for posting the photos. It’s been two winters since I’ve seen snow like that, and I am starting to forget what it was like. It’s like a bad, bad dream.

Seriously, Opal, if you want snow every day, all winter long, move on up to Buffalo. Or Syracuse. You’d think you died and went to heaven!

We got some flurries today.
