I know this has been done before, but there are a lot of new people and hopefully some of you other people have new mugs.
So, there it is then…
Work: One of those stainless steel-type insulated cups with the sippy top. It has “The Tech - museum of inovation” on the front with their logo. I got it when I went down to visit PurpleCrackWhore earlier this year.
Home: I usually use one of a set of oversized, glazed mugs (2 green and 2 blue) from Pier 1.
Its a ceramic mug- on one side it has a picture of Wes Unseld with a huge 'fro and the “Bullets” logo underneath. On the other side it says “Best Looking Mug in the NBA”.
Why yes- I did get it from a thrift store. How’d you know?
Work: Kinda like yours, Demo, a stainless steel insulated one. It’s got a flat bottom so it sits on my dasboard pretty well too. It says EMS for Eastern Mountain Sports. My brother got it for me last Christmas.
Home: My favorite is this cool light blue mug that’s orange on the inside. It was my friend Pete’s, and he left it in my car a couple years ago. He never noticed it was gone, so it’s mine now, hahaha… It has a small crack in it so I use it sparingly.
The mug I am proudest of: My Bridgewater State College Class of 1999 mug. Damn thing cost me well over $50,000 to get!
“A hundred years from now
it will not matter what
my bank account was,
the sort of house I lived in,
or the kind of car I drove…
but the world may be different
because I was important in the
life of a CHILD”
The mug I’m drinking from at the moment is forest green. That’s it. Nothing fancy at all.
At work, though, I have a mug that I use a lot. It’s an Avon Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Awareness mug. I bought it two years ago (I buy a bunch of the Pink Ribbon stuff every time they have something new–great gifts).
Work: A big mug, big enough for a real cuppa joe. The top 3/4 is a light green glaze, that sort of drips down to the lower, unfinished portion. My brother made it - he had a pottery store in Manhattan (and is now looking for a place with lower rent. Good luck.)
Home: A purple mug (oversized, of course) with “1996 World Champion New York Yankees” etched in white.
I also have a yellow smiley face mug :), with the handle looking like an arm that’s flashing a peace sign, but I never use it.
I drink my coffee on the drive to work and the cup is a creme colored ceramic mug with green flower designs around the top of it. It’s a Longaberger mug so it was really expensive.
I also have a little brown coffee cup that is really ugly to look at but the coffee always tastes better when I drink out of that cup over any of the other ones I have. It’s probably my favorite one.
work: Far Side cartoon of “Midvale School for the Gifted” and the kid pushing on the door marked “pull”.
Home: (my FAvvvvvvvvooooooooorrrrrrriiiiiiiite). A mug I designed, there were 30 done (and distributed). It’s white, with a drawing (synonym, the word you use in place of the one you can’t spell) of my SO’s face, with bull horns added to it, and the caption “My cow died so I don’t need your bull”. It’s sooooo trailer trash! Of course, the design is on both sides. I had them made and gave them to his family as Christmas presents years ago (also gave one to his business partner, two other friends of his, another set of friends who own an art gallery who put it on display during the East Lansing Art Fest, and had one delivered to him with his beverage at lunch at his regular restaurant… )
I keep a 4 pack of mugs on my desk. Black ceramic with the Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts on the side in white & grey. They give out one each quarter to the student with the highest GPA.
I put all 4 on my desk to prove a point to all the other alumni (about 14) I work with…
I’m smarter than they are.
Wring, you have my coffee cup! The Midvale one was my favourite, but I broke it a couple of years ago, and haven’t found another one since. It was also my work mug.
At work, I have a Dogbert mug that says Let Me Drop Everything and work on Your Problem.
At home, it’s a beige/tan mug with flowers on it - my mom used it every day before she moved to Arizona, then I inherited it. It’s kind of a little bit of home every morning (if that makes any sense).
well, if ya want it back you’ll have to sandblast my coffee stains offa it… the other far side one I really like is the kid who’s raising his hand saying to his teacher “Mr. Jones, my brain is full…”
good thing you didn’t say you had one of my ‘at home mugs!’
My favorite one has a blue sky painted on it with sun and stars all over. It’s really cute. Another one I use has a Winnie the Pooh picture on it but I mainly just like to look at that one.
I have many, many coffee mugs, way more than I should be allowed to have.
The one I’m drinking from as I type this, however, has a picture of a cartoony amoeba on it. The other side has the dictionary definition of an amoeba.
No, I’m not especially into amoebas. Or science, for that matter. It came as part of an Archie McPhee surprise package.
Yes, it certainly has been done before, by none other than yours truly, but apparently it has disappeared, as I could not find the thread in a search.
Anyway, I had the same mugs, until about 2 weeks ago, when one of my co-workers, who I have yet to discover, swiped my Snoopy and Woodstock mug. And now, all hope of finding it is lost, as tomorrow is my last day at this job.
I still have Maleficent, at least. Oh yea, and Duran Duran.
