The Bridge on FX (Wednesdays at 10 pm Eastern)

As she was resting her back on the opposite door of the SUV, her feet were out the opposite window? This was sloppy editing.

And no way the Childress guy was operating alone. I agree with Sonja on that. I think Hank is behind it because he is making a skin suit from body parts.

Yeah, she’s too short for her feet to be out the opposite window. And her feet were too close together. Ray had no room to operate.

Is that guy dedicated or what?

The speculation at IMDB about the killer is downright weird. One guy is sure it’s Hastings – Alma’s co-worker – because the killer kicked Marco in the balls. Someone else thinks it might be Gus, Marco’s son. :dubious:

Until the deputy got his face blown off, some people thought it was him.

When did people start thinking the least likely person in a TV show or movie has to be the bad guy? Or is it that if it is the least likely person, they can preen and say they called it first? It’s kind of annoying.

Well, some folks at IMDB were at least partly right about the culprit, but their “guess” was obviously based on knowledge of the original show. There was nothing indicating Alma’s co-worker was anything but what he appeared to be, until this episode.

There’s still a lot of unsolved murders, and reasons for those murders.

We don’t know why he waited so long for revenge, or whether he has an eye on Daniel Frye, for what little part he played. We don’t know why he didn’t kill Marco when he had the chance. Did he kill Geddes? Why?

I hope the show gets a second season, but without the convoluted plot.

I guess it’s over now?

Fwiw, my view of the Scandie production was whoever bought the script chopped the writers ending off about two hours early and had them rewrite it. Way too much time was spend developing arcs and ideas that just disappeared.

Did the US version have the guy who dressed like a 70s porno dude? WTF? Ditto the work colleague - who was surely being shaped to play a bigger role.

What survives is the central dynamic of the two contrasting cops; she in particular was, in the original, worth saving and developing further.

But, in terms of dramatic structure, it was an unhappy ending to say the least. IMO.

No, it’s not over, not by a long shot.

After watching this week’s episode, I caved and read the Wiki article on the Danish version. There’s at least one more episode.

Missed the edit window.

This week’s episode set up the finale.

Marco and Sonya know that Tate faked his suicide and assumed Hastings’ identity. But they didn’t know why until the end of the episode, when Marco recognized the bead left on the body of the man who drove the car that killed Tate’s family.

The final scene of the episode was Tate and Alma in Tate’s car. Alma seems quite smitten with Hastings, and they’re not going home.

So yeah, at least one more episode.

There are five more episodes. Season finale is scheduled for October 2nd.

I don’t know quite where they’re going, but they have time to pull in all the seperate threads: Low-talking Linder, the Himbo and the rifles, Coke-addled reporter etc.

I have to say, I don’t particularly care for any of these sub-plots and think the series would be stronger without them.

If I was a crazy man with an intricate plot to kill lots of people, I think I’d START with the guy who killed my wife and kid, and not save him for episode 9.

Best part of last night’s episode was Marco shaking his head at mustachioed cop guy.

Me too! Someone on Sepinwall’s blog questioned how Tate could hang around El Paso for six years without being recognized. I suppose he could have gone away for awhile and then come back. ??

Village idiot savant!

Glad to hear there are five more episodes. I love this show. I’ve rewatched several episodes and don’t get tired of it, even when I know what’s gonna happen.

Who is Hastings and why did Sonya have his driver’s license photo on her screen so Marco could say “No that’s Tate”?

Hastings was the body they found buried by the house.

Hastings was the body they dug up from sniper guys property, Tate assumed his identity.

How was Hastings’ body identified so quickly?

Not one of these characters is remotely likable.

I don’t know. They have their faults, but they’re all interesting.

The only character I don’t care for is Charlotte, because she’s boring and kinda stupid. Alma is one-note, but if Tate is truly out for revenge, she won’t be around much longer.

I’m so fucking lost. Childress(?) is fucking nuts. Linder is fucking nuts. Fausto is fucking nuts. Cunnilingus bitch is fucking nuts. Ray-ray is just weapons grade stupid. The co-worker dude is fucking nuts. Everybody else is at least damaged if not fucking nuts. Why am I even trying?

I’m glad I stuck with this show. I like how it’s all playing back to revenge on Marco, and now the killer wants Marco to know (deliberate bloody handprint on the wall) what goes around gets twisted in a fucked up mind and comes back around.

The killer left the beads Marco would recognize on the body, the handprint was for everyone else.

I think the parallels between the “Killing” and “the Bridge” are so complete and undeniable that one has to assume they are deliberate.

The Killing (the first season anyway) was notable for all the red herrings. We’ve had just one in The Bridge, when we saw Steven Linder put a woman in the trunk of his car, and then lock her in a trailer. But that was more of a pink herring than red, since the woman didn’t resist or scream – that should have been a clue. And by the third or fourth episode, we saw that Linder was a rescuer, so the writers didn’t keep us hanging about Linder.

So far, Gina’s murder is the only plot point that needs some serious explanation.
