Seriously, he thought he was going to board a plane? He thought showing his ID wouldn’t make the FBI’s computers go ring-a-ding-ding? Hopefully he’ll be held without bail until trial. As much as I wouldn’t mind he and his ilk being tenderized and made into bite-sized portions, I’m glad that he will not be a martyr.
The article says, however, that the charges are related to the 2014 standoff, which is great.
You’re forgetting how those loons who support him think. The instant he was arrested, he became even more of a martyr to them.
Absolutely. I always thought it was a mistake for the Feds to back down then; it only emboldened Cliven and his followers. The lawful authority of the United States must be firmly asserted against those who deny it.
Yup. That’s really cool. I think this is one of the reasons that people are going to be a little more hesitant about joining their craziness. Once people realize that the Feds aren’t going to just roll over, it may slow down this movement.
That is kind of a given for all of them. They are proven flight risks and have publicly stated that they will use deadly force against Federal law enforcement agents. That puts them firmly in the “You rot here before, during and hopefully for a long time after your trial.”
Remember, kids, Uncle Sam always plays the long game. He has the patience of a ninth-generation Vorta clone.
Ted Cruz’s top Nevada supporter spent the night negotiating for the Bundy clan in Oregon standoff.
Just when you think this can’t get any more theater-of-the-absurd . . .
[Nah; the Final Four are done.

I listened to the whole ordeal last night, and it was very clear at about 8:30pm that Sean Anderson was done. It was hard to hear Sandy Anderson, but from what Sean was saying, she was done too.
No way the other two were gonna try and hold out as a pair against dozens of FBI agents with armored vehicles and jackets and such, plus they have to all be tired and cold and tired of being cold. None of them has slept in a bed for weeks at this point, or used a toilet or shower. That’s hard enough to do in good weather; it sucks ass in the middle of winter in the high desert. I’m guessing that once the adrenaline ran down from the initial push by the FBI, Jeff Banta and David Fry were feeling drained and ready to stop living like they have been.
I could be wrong, tho. Still 35 minutes or so until they are supposed to turn themselves in without surrendering. ![]()
Actually, he did board a plane, I assume in Nevada. He was arrested as he arrived at the airport in Portland.
“It’s a trap!”![]()
Clearly, he forgot to bring his “cliven: natural and sovereign person of the family bundy” ID which would have prevented them from laying a hand on him.
Redundant.
Funny how well the “no fly” list works isn’t it? They can keep school kids off it, but someone with an anti-government agenda, not so.
The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office just released Cliven Bundy’s mug shot; he doesn’t look too happy.
His booking page still shows no bail, too; I doubt there’s been time for a hearing yet, tho.
Actually even if he were on the list, as mentioned earlier in the thread, letting him check in would be actually a brilliant strategy: let him walk into a federalized secure environment alone and unarmed, and wait to grab him as he makes connection away from his home turf advantage.
Cliven should have been fully expecting that this was a risk and willing to take it.
Well, if they try to nab him in the airport when he’s boarding, he could try to get away and there could be a big scene. Especially if there are supporters or family members present.
Getting off the plane, where is he going to go? Back on the plane? And it’s not like people get to meet you at the gate anymore, so there aren’t going to be dozens of supporters standing right there.
[sigh] Now they’re talking about how their god supports them and they’re doing the lord’s work.
It was pretty smart to let him board the plane. I think it would have been even smarter to have it land at a military base where the security would have been even more overwhelming.
Inconvenience everyone else, cost everyone money and give this man more ‘respect’ than he deserves?
Not a chance.
