Do you really think Captain Moroni and Ammon are big beer drinkers?
Seems to me, what this situation calls for is a few of Chicago’s finest! Y’know, in riot gear. With their itchy fingers, and quick reflexes. We all know they’re teflon, so they’ll get off regardless of how it plays out.
I’m thinking things could be resolved somewhat quickly.
To be fair, he never claimed to be normal. He said “regular,” so I took that to mean he moved his bowels every morning before his shower.
I was a little surprised he was offering up such information in this thread, but I chalked it up to “quirkiness.”
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
(Wipes tears away)
“AHEAD of the curve,” he says. Heh.
I have been wondering if such a conspiracy theory will be proposed by someone somewhere. (Not you of course, I realize that you’re joking.)
It’s likely that there will be believers.
Until the measure passes, they’re still citizens, and the Congressmen would get to vote.
(There is a tiny chance that they would make a rules change, but if they had the votes to do that, they’d also have the votes to win on the main measure, so why bother?)
Get a brain, Moroni. (I’m never going to get tired of making fun of that bit of Mormon stupidity. And let’s face it, there’s a whole lot of Mormon stupidity.)
Yeah, the Bundys are Mormons. I thought folks generally knew that, but maybe not.
Robitussin DM. That is what Mormon kids drink to get wasted.
When judicial and legislative solutions exist you shouldn’t need to take to the streets (or forest) armed. There is a lot to be said about the corruption in the judicial and law enforcement threads, note the 1000000 posts in the other pit thread about bad law enforcement. However, if you want to win the war you have to choose your battles properly because you need good public relations. Bundy and the ranchers were in the wrong, they aren’t the right sort of allies and this wouldn’t be the right cause to use to rally support against “tyranny.”
It’d be better to ally with the BLM movement where the outrage directed at the state is meaningful to a large dissatisfied portion of the populace. Noone cares about some random white rube in fatigues. They frighten the women and children and strengthen the call to crack down on fundamental rights.
I’m conflicted…
Part of me wants to have an F-16 (or equivalent) buzz the place at 200’ AGL - at sub-sonic speed until about 4 seconds from the building, then kick in the afterburners and cause a sonic boom to roll over the place.
Let them shit their pants and see how tough they really are.
Another part of me wants to do the low-key thing:
Back a Brink’s armored car up to the place and use a .50 with armor-piercing rounds to pepper the joint.
What shall we do…
Joining the military is an act of ignorance, hatred, or selfishness. I will not be told by some comfy fascist with pillowy hands that these individuals are fighting for me. I desperately urge them to lay down their arms and discontinue their support for governmental policies, so to say they are fighting for me is the opposite of fact. They are fighting against my wishes. Their collective stupidity/blind anger/personal ambition/daddy issues are chief obstacles to peace and prosperity.
Insulting veterans is a great way to get support for your ideas in America! Let me know how it works out.
You’ll probably just sit at home and have cowardly fantasies about killing people who have harmed nobody.
They made a bad choice, but they are redeemable.
Apparently there was no long-term plan. They were part of a protest and stumbled on an unlocked office and that was that. Now they’ve set themselves up to look like idiots when they either walk out or are carried out.
Speak for yourself.
Some of us actually give a damn about things. If you don’t, fine. Don’t bother the adults.
I’m assuming no one here is smart enough to actually know THE TRUTH in this matter … and since it’s THE TRUTH, I’ll not bother with any citations:
1] There’s been a couple of candidates here in Oregon who have run on the plank “Make the Federales give back these lands”, they typically lose badly. There are some very valuable properties in the Federale inventory, but for the most part it’s inhospitable desert wasteland … and The People of the State of Oregon don’t want the lands back.
2a] The * Federales* have actually done a pretty good job managing this wetland. Water’s scarce in that part of the world. By fencing out the cattle, we’ve improved water flow outside the the area which increases cattle production which increases income to the ranchers. Why not let the out-of-state taxpayers foot the bill?
2b] The National Park Service has done a great job with Crater Lake. If you come and visit Oregon, you gotta gotta gotta see it. Truly one of the crown jewels of The West.
2c] BLM is managing the O&C land the way the O&C Railroad were supposed to, so really it’s a “who else will” type of thing. And again, why not let out-of-state taxpayers pay for it.
Whether Federale or The State, you set a backburn without permission, you’re going to jail. You welch on your grazing rights lease, you’re getting your cows taken … these militiamen will make no progress if their demands are met.
I strenuously object to this action being characterized as terrorism. This location is the single most remote in the lower 48 outside of Nevada, like ISIS invading Antarctica … only a stupid motherfucker would be afraid of this. Just cut electric power, these cowards will come crawling back to civilization in a matter of weeks … sheesh … y’all act like there’s a sagebrush shortage or something.
No … you’re wrong … only a fool would give a damn about this property, God’s already damned it.
I’m quite pleased with the choice I made. I didn’t love every minute of my time in the Navy, but I’m stronger and smarter because of it.
So you’re wrong with your sweeping generalization about veterans. It was the right choice for me, and I don’t need to be redeemed for it.
I don’t think it’s so much about this particular property, the concern is that these people don’t get away with this kind of thing a second time. That just emboldens these idiots and the next time they, or someone inspired by them, may do something more dangerous.
That said, I agree with waiting them out. They are not currently a danger to anyone.
